Italy represents a territory rich of common bean landraces, most them still uncharacterized. Thus, here, the proximal composition and metabolic profiles (fatty acid composition, total free amino acids) as well polyphenols antioxidant capacities both ‘Cerato’ ‘Curniciello’ dry beans, cultivated in Caserta’s rural areas (Southern Italy) were evaluated, comparison with other local known beans. The average vintages values exhibit lower content crude proteins (21.18 vs 23.41 g/100 g), lipids (1.27 2.08 acids (16.01 vs. 17.89 g) respect to although slight statistical differences found between two different harvest years analysed (2020-2021). Two essential fatty (n-6 linoleic n-3 alpha-linolenic) oleic abundant (~90% total). Subsequently, trypsin chymotrypsin inhibitory activities without beans boiling treatment (2 h) α-amylase α-glucosidase investigated, considering their capability decrease protein carbohydrates intake assimilation. In addition, AFLP analysis landraces exhibits polymorphic patterns useful for authentication traceability.Overall, these data represent starting point promote cultivation consumption contributing preserve culinary traditions Italian biodiversity.

Disturbances in the gut microbiota and its derived metabolites are closely related to occurrence development of hepatic steatosis. The white kidney bean (WKB), as an excellent source protein, dietary fiber, phytochemicals, has recently received widespread attention might exhibit beneficial effects on a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced steatosis via targeting metabolites. results indicated that HFD, when supplemented with WKB for 12 weeks, could potently reduce obesity symptoms, serum lipid profiles, glucose, well improve insulin resistance liver function markers mice, thereby alleviating An integrated fecal microbiome metabolomics analysis further demonstrated was able normalize HFD-induced dysbiosis mediating alterations wide range Particularly, remarkably increased relative abundance probiotics (

Abstract White kidney bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) extracts can aid weight management by reducing calorie intake from complex carbohydrates through alpha-amylase inhibition. We examined the impact of a proprietary aqueous extract whole dried white beans standardized its inhibitor activity (Phase 2 (WKBE)) on in subjects with overweight and moderate obesity. In randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled fashion, 81 participants completed study ingested either high dose Phase (1000 mg, WKBE HIGH), low (700 LOW), or matching placebo (microcrystalline cellulose, PLA) three times day, 30 min before meals, for 12 weeks during restricted diet. dose-dependent manner, significantly reduced body weight, fat mass, BMI, waist, hip HIGH group thigh circumference. is an effective safe supplement aiding loss. Background: The gut microbiome is increasingly recognized as a key player in metabolic health, influencing glucose and lipid metabolism through various mechanisms. However, the efficacy of microbiota-targeted interventions, such probiotics, prebiotics, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), diet-based treatments, remains unclear for specific outcomes. In this study, aim was to evaluate impact these interventions on parameters individuals with diseases diabetes mellitus (DM), obesity, syndrome. Methods: This systematic review meta-analysis included 41 randomized controlled trials that investigated effects treatments fasting glucose, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density (HDL-C), triglycerides. A comprehensive search conducted using databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, focusing targeting microbiota. performed random-effects models, effect sizes calculated each outcome. Risk bias assessed Cochrane Bias tool. Results: Gut significantly reduced HbA1c, HOMA-IR, LDL-C, triglycerides, moderate heterogeneity observed across studies. also led modest increases HDL-C levels. Probiotic synbiotic showed most consistent benefits improving both profiles, while FMT yielded mixed results. Short-term rapid microbial shifts but less pronounced improvements, whereas longer-term had more substantial benefits. Conclusions: it demonstrated can improve outcomes, offering potential therapeutic strategy managing diseases. effectiveness varies depending type, duration, population characteristics, highlighting need further long-term studies assess sustained modulation health.

The main proposed mechanism for these effects alpha-amylase inhibition, thereby slowing carbohydrate digestion and absorption. Thus, it possible that WKBE could impact the gut microbiota modulate health. We investigated of supplementing 20 healthy adults with 1 week in randomised, placebo-controlled crossover trial on composition microbiota, gastrointestinal (GI) inflammation (faecal calprotectin), GI symptoms, stool habits. conducted
