In recent years, Candida albicans has emerged as a significant opportunistic pathogen, causing various infections, particularly in immunocompromised geriatric individuals. One of the major hindrances managing infections lies its potential to develop and survive biofilms, which demonstrate resistance conventional antifungal therapies, thereby complicating treatment strategies. While clove oil shown promising results agent, specific anti-biofilm effects against biofilms remain relatively underexplored. Therefore, there is need for comprehensive review evaluate existing literature on properties mechanisms action biofilms. Acinetobacter baumannii's extensive antibiotic resistance makes its infections difficult to treat, so effective strategies fight this bacterium are urgently needed. This study aims evaluate the effectiveness of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) mediated by Rutin-Gal(III) complex and Quercetin against A. baumannii. Absorbance spectra, fluorescence minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were determined. The intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), cell membrane permeability, expression ompA blaOXA−23, anti-biofilm activity, anti-metabolic activity complex- Quercetin-mediated aPDT measured. revealed absorption peaks in visible spectra. displayed at 524 nm 540 nm, respectively. MIC values for 64 µg/mL 256 µg/mL, Quercetin- complex-mediated significantly reduced colony forming units/mL (58.4% 67.5%), EPS synthesis (47.4% 56.5%), metabolic (30.5% 36.3%), (5.5- 10.5-fold), blaOXA−23 (4.1-fold 7.8-fold) genes (respectively; all P < 0.05). enhanced notable biofilm degradation (36.2% 40.6%), ROS production (2.55- 2.90-folds), permeability (10.8– 9.6-folds) findings indicate that exhibits antibacterial properties could serve as a valuable adjunctive strategy conventional treatments baumannii infections. One limitation is it was conducted solely on standard strain; testing clinical isolates would allow more reliable interpretation results.

Background: Periodontitis is an inflammation that occurs in the periodontium and caused by host immune responses subgingival plaque bacteria. Subgingival bacteria can initiate periodontal disease because they have potential to induce release of proinflammatory cytokines. Mechanical debridement alone not always possible completely remove pathogenic cause infections due accessibility location. New treatments, such as photodynamic therapy, which uses lasers, offer alternative option. Photodynamic therapy a non-invasive photons light energy for medical purposes. The mechanism based on triad consisting photosensitizer, source, molecular oxygen. Microorganisms first absorb then are activated specific wavelength. Photosensitizer transfer received oxygen convert into ROS, death microorganisms affecting their membranes, proteins, nucleic acids. Doxycycline widely used known act exogenous photosensitizer. Abstract Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) has been suggested as a complementary approach to endodontic treatment it promoted greater microbial reduction. This case report describes the effectiveness of aPDT in bacterial reduction and clinical management lower molar presenting previous poorly conducted treatment, post-treatment apical periodontitis coronal-root perforation. A 20-year-old female patient with radiographic evidence perforation was submitted retreatment. In addition procedures, 0.05% methylene blue used 3-minutes irradiation period. Ga-Al-Ar diode laser attached an optical fiber diameter 365 μm applied by using 90 s time, 100 mW power 9 J energy. conclusion, associated performed technological devices represents positive impact periapical tissues healing teeth furcation
