Restoring the balance of gut microbiota has emerged as a critical strategy in treating intestinal disorders, with probiotics playing pivotal role maintaining bacterial equilibrium. Surgical preparations, trauma, and digestive tract reconstruction associated surgeries often disrupt flora, prompting interest potential postoperative recovery. Lan et al conducted prospective randomized study on 60 patients acute appendicitis, revealing that administration Bacillus licheniformis capsules facilitated early resolution inflammation restoration gastrointestinal motility, offering novel therapeutic avenue for accelerated This editorial delves into effects perioperative probiotic supplementation physical recovery following surgery. Within framework enhanced after surgery, exploration new strategies to mitigate surgical complications reshape is particularly intriguing.

Abstract The gut microbiota plays a critical role in maintaining human health, influencing wide range of physiological processes, including immune regulation, metabolism, and neurological function. Recent studies have shown that imbalances composition can contribute to the onset progression various diseases, such as metabolic disorders (e.g., obesity diabetes) neurodegenerative conditions Alzheimer's Parkinson's). These are often accompanied by chronic inflammation dysregulated responses, which closely linked specific forms cell death, pyroptosis ferroptosis. Pathogenic bacteria trigger these death pathways through toxin release, while probiotics been found mitigate effects modulating responses. Despite insights, precise mechanisms influences diseases remain insufficiently understood. This review consolidates recent findings on impact immune‐mediated inflammation‐associated conditions. It also identifies gaps current research explores potential advanced technologies, organ‐on‐chip models microbiome–gut–organ axis, for deepening our understanding. Emerging tools, single‐bacterium omics spatial metabolomics, discussed their promise elucidating microbiota's disease development.

The fine balance between symbiotic and potentially opportunistic and/or pathogenic microorganisms can undergo quantitative alterations, which, when associated with low intestinal biodiversity, could be responsible for the development of gut inflammation so-called “intestinal dysbiosis”. This condition is characterized by disbalance a synergistic mechanism involving mucosal barrier, neuroendocrine system, immune system that results in an acute inflammatory response induced different causes, including viral or bacterial infections digestive tract. More frequently, however, dysbiosis slowly subtly subliminal causal factors, resulting chronic related to diseases affecting tract other organs apparatuses. Studies on animal models, together studies humans, highlight significant role microbiota microbiome occurrence conditions such as metabolic syndrome cardiovascular (CVDs); neurodegenerative, urologic, skin, liver, kidney pathologies; premature aging. blood translocation fragments has been found one processes linked possible “metabolic endotoxemia” systemic inflammation, increased risk oxidative stress diseases. In this context, supplementation probiotic strains shown restore eubiosis, especially if administered long-term treatments. aim review describe anti-inflammatory effects specific observed clinical trials respective indications, highlighting differences efficacy depending strain, formulation, time duration treatment, dosage used.

Cannabidiol (CBD), a natural component extracted from Cannabis sativa L. exerts neuroprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects in Alzheimer's disease (AD), characterized by impaired cognition accumulation of amyloid-B peptides (Aβ). Interactions between the gut central nervous system (microbiota-gut-brain axis) play critical role pathogenesis neurodegenerative disorder AD. At present investigations into mechanisms underlying neuroprotective action CBD AD are not conclusive. The aim this study was thus to examine influence on involvement microbiota-gut-brain axis using senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 (SAMP8) model. Data demonstrated that administration SAMP8 mice improved cognitive function as evidenced Morris water maze test increased hippocampal activated microglia shift M1 M2. In addition, elevated levels Bacteriodetes associated with fall Firmicutes providing morphologically protective intestinal barrier which subsequently reduced leakage toxic metabolites. Further, found reduce colon epithelial cells lipopolysaccharide (LPS), known be leading gastrointestinal motility, thereby promoting neuroinflammation subsequent neuronal death. Our findings may considered beneficial therapeutic drug counteract AD-mediated impairment restore microbial functions observed mechanisms.

Vitamin K is essential for many physiological processes, including coagulation, bone metabolism, tissue calcification, and antioxidant activity. vitamers are represented by lipophilic compounds with similar chemical structure (i.e., phylloquinone (vitamin K1) menaquinone K2)). deficiency can affect coagulation vascular increasing the risk of hemorrhages, atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular diseases, neurodegeneration. Recently, several studies have hypothesized a possible dual role vitamin in benefiting both cerebral health, e.g., sphingolipids biosynthesis or ferroptosis inhibition. The aim this narrative review to deepen understanding biological activities its protective/preventive actions neurovascular degenerative conditions, stroke dementia. BACKGROUND Malnutrition and epilepsy share a complex bidirectional relationship, with malnutrition serving as potential risk factor for development, while epilepsy, in turn, often exerts profound effects on nutritional status. Nutritional interventions have emerged critical adjunctive approach management. AIM To explore the multifaceted associations between structured into three primary sections: (1) Elucidating impact of onset; (2) Examining reciprocal influence status, (3) Evaluating diverse management epilepsy. METHODS A systematic search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, Web Science databases utilizing defined keywords related to malnutrition, interventions. Inclusion criteria encompassed various study types, including clinical trials, animal models, cohort studies, case reports, meta-analyses, reviews, guidelines, editorials, review articles. Four hundred sixteen pertinent references were identified, 198 articles, 153 research 21 24 14 4 2 editorials meeting predefined criteria. RESULTS The revealed intricate interplay highlighting development elucidating how leads deficiencies. Findings underscored importance managing showing their seizure frequency, neuronal function, overall brain health.
