Male fertility results from a complex interplay of physiological, environmental, and genetic factors. It is conditioned by the properly developed anatomy reproductive system, hormonal regulation balance, between different cell populations that sustain an appropriate functional environment in testes. Unfortunately, mechanisms sustaining male are not flawless their perturbation can lead to infertility. Inflammation one factors contribute In testes, it be brought on varicocele, obesity, gonadal infections, leukocytospermia, physical obstructions or traumas, consumption toxic substances. As result prolonged untreated inflammation, testicular resident cells spermatogenesis suffer DNA damage, lipid protein oxidation, mitochondrial dysfunction consequently leading loss function affected Sertoli (SCs) Leydig (LCs), formation morphologically abnormal dysfunctional sperm lay basis infertility subfertility. This due mainly production secretion pro-inflammatory mediators, including cytokines, chemokines, reactive oxygen species (ROS) local immune (macrophages, lymphocytes T, mast cells) tissue-specific [SCs, LCs, peritubular myoid (PMCs) germ (GCs)]. Depending location, duration, intensity these mediators exert effect elements this review, we discuss most prevalent inflammatory negatively affect describe ways inflammation impair function.
