Current
treatment
of
inflammatory
bowel
disease
(IBD)
relies
on
anti-inflammatory
and
immunosuppressive
agents.
However,
this
concept
is
considered
outdated
due
to
its
restricted
efficacy
unavoidable
side
effects.
Herein,
a
polynorepinephrine-coated
programmable
probiotic
expressing
α-aminoadipate
aminotransferase
(NE-EcN-pA)
was
constructed
improve
the
levels
kynurenic
acid
xanthurenic
in
intestine
by
modulating
endogenous
tryptophan
metabolism.
The
NE
layer
could
protect
EcN-pA
against
harsh
environment
gastrointestinal
tract,
enhancing
survival
colonization.
In
UC
mice,
oral
administration
NE-EcN-pA
effectively
alleviated
intestinal
inflammation
restored
epithelial
barrier
owing
activation
aryl
hydrocarbon
receptor
pathway.
Furthermore,
promoted
diversity
flora,
improved
imbalance
enhanced
content
short-chain
fatty
acids
colon.
Overall,
can
regulate
metabolism
gut
microbiota,
showing
promise
disorders.
