Abstract Increasing evidence infers that some complex diseases are attributed to co-infection with multiple pathogens, such as shrimp white feces syndrome (WFS); however, there is a lack of experimental validate causal link. This deficiency further impedes rational design probiotics elicit desired benefits WFS resistance. Herein, we validated the roles Vibrio fluvialis , V. coralliilyticus and tubiashii (in ratio 7:2:1) in etiology, which fully satisfied Koch’s postulates. Correspondingly, precisely designed four antagonistic strains: Ruegeria lacuscaerulensis Nioella nitratireducens Bacillus subtilis Streptomyces euryhalinus 4:3:2:1, efficiently guarded against WFS. Dietary supplementation stimulated beneficial gut populations, streptomycin, short chain fatty acids, taurine metabolism potentials, network stability, tight junction, host selection, while reducing turnover rate average variation degree microbiota, thereby facilitating ecological mechanical barriers pathogens. Additionally, immune pathways, Fcγ R-mediated phagocytosis, Toll-like receptor RIG-I-like signaling pathways conferring barrier, were activated by supplementation. Collectively, establish an updated framework for validating pathogens rationally designing probiotics. Furthermore, our findings uncover underlying mechanisms from probiotics–gut microbiome–host immunity axis.

Soy protein concentrate (SPC) is a cost-effective alternative to fish meal (FM) in aquaculture, but its deficiency essential amino acids, particularly methionine, limits application. This study evaluated the effects of methionine supplementation on growth, liver and intestinal health, muscle quality hybrid sturgeon (Acipenser baerii ♀ × A. schrenckii ♂) fed SPC-based diets. Four diets were formulated: an FM control diet, SPC supplemented with 0% (M0), 0.25% (M2.5), 0.50% (M5) methionine. Replacing without (M0) significantly reduced weight gain efficiency ratio (PER) while increasing feed conversion (FCR) hepatic lipid accumulation. Methionine restored growth performance, PER, texture levels comparable group. Intestinal enzyme activities (lipase trypsin), villus height, goblet cell counts improved M5 Gene expression analysis showed that upregulated tight junction genes (claudin1, occludin) anti-inflammatory (tgfβ, lysozyme) reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (il1β, il8). In liver, oxidative stress markers such as malondialdehyde (MDA) antioxidant (SOD, CAT) optimizing metabolism, evidenced by lower triglyceride (TG) total cholesterol (TC) levels. Muscle increased hardness, chewiness, fiber density compared M0. conclusion, at effectively mitigates negative SPC, improving sturgeon.

To investigate the efficacy of four forms methionine (Met) supplementation in red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii), a Met-deficient all-plant protein diet was used control, along with supplemental diets: 0.90 g/kg Met-Met, 1.80 crystal DL-Met, 3.60 E-Met, and 3.29 MHA-Ca.
