A comprehensive analysis of millets, small-seeded Poaceae family grains that have been traditionally cultivated in semi-arid regions Africa and Asia. The primary objective is to elucidate the multi-faceted advantages encompassing nutritional, metabolic, immunological benefits, addition their significance sustainable agriculture ethical trade. Millets are rich essential macronutrients micronutrients, including but not limited to, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals. They also contain bioactive compounds such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, antioxidants. dimensions millet cultivation emphasized, focusing on fair trade protocols could significantly elevate socio-economic status marginalized farmers. hold distinct cultural traditional relevance various indigenous communities, thus positing a loss heritage. critical gap current literature identified domains farming practices, climate adaptability, implications cultivation. Although millets evaluated for nutritional profile, research scant areas like optimal agronomic potential impact climatic variations, social-economic ramifications millet-based agriculture. Future paradigms profitably focus utility managing chronic lifestyle disorders integrative role agricultural frameworks.

Food security has become a major issue around the globe. Even today food is not accessible to every person of this world. United Nations set target for everyone by 2030, but still, we are very far away from target. Millets four season crop, which cultivated globally post-green revolution era, their cultivation significantly declined due more accentuation on rice, wheat and maize. The primary suppliers carbohydrates humanity dependent lack essential amino acids minerals cardinal proper nutrition. This nutrients in diet lifestyles welcomes numerous diseases like cardiovascular diseases, obesity diabetes. unique richness dietary fibers, antioxidants, protein, fats. present global spectacle climate alternate forced us sustain our natural resources. In case, millets ones that poor soils. review article reviews beneficiaries millet contrast human health as certain polyphenols catechin, sinapic acid, found have many sustaining benefits prevention against arthritis, cancer, inflammation, environment compared staple grains minimum water requirement, less fertile soils, usage pesticides fertilizers provides nurturing ecosystem. incorporation into daily an individual might help curing complications.

Micronutrient malnutrition is a serious threat to the developing world's human population, which largely relies on cereal-based diet that lacks diversity and micronutrients. Besides major cereals, millets represent key sources of energy, protein, vitamins, minerals for people residing in dryland tropics drought-prone areas South Asia sub-Saharan Africa. Millets serve as multi-purpose crops with several salient traits including tolerance abiotic stresses, adaptation diverse agro-ecologies, higher productivity nutrient-poor soils, rich nutritional characteristics. Considering potential empowering smallholder farmers, adapting changing climate, transforming agrifood systems, year 2023 has been declared by United Nations International Year Millets. In this review, we highlight recent genetic genomic innovations can be explored enhance grain micronutrient density millets. We summarize advances made high-throughput phenotyping accurately measure content cereals. shed light millet germplasm collections existing globally exploited nutrient-dense high-yielding varieties address food security. Furthermore, describe progress fields genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, phenomics an emphasis enhancing designing competitive biofortified future. close genetic-relatedness within upcoming research should focus identifying basis introgressing them into cereals through integrated omics approaches. Recent breakthroughs genome editing toolbox would crucial mainstreaming biofortification
