In humans, interactions with objects are often embedded in communicative exchanges. Objects offer unique affordances to explore, carry functions and hold cultural relevance, which can shape children’s communication. Research indicates that the use of artificial objects, such as certain toys, helps promote pre-linguistic communication, consequently impacting language development. Abstract This study analyses the feasibility and effectiveness of BabyMICARE, a manualised intervention programme aimed at improving interactions between caregivers infants toddlers with Down syndrome. The programme’s goal is to enhance caregivers’ sensitivity reduce directivity during early interactions, particularly play daily routines. A pre-test post-test design was used 40 dyads syndrome their caregivers, who were divided into control group (n = 20) an 20), based on baseline scores in key interaction subscales. Sessions conducted over 10 weeks by trained psychologists. Parent-infant assessed using MACI coding system, which measures aspects such as sensitive responsiveness, level reciprocity parent child. showed high feasibility, 100% attendance rate but some rescheduling. Caregivers evaluated it positively. demonstrated significant improvements five eight scales, responsiveness nondirectiveness, while no changes observed group. results suggest that BabyMICARE feasible effective for promoting more responsive, less directive may be crucial fostering children’s development.

Although post-cognitivist approaches have shaken the status quo by emphasising dynamic interactions among brain, body, and environment in cognition, mainstream psychological theories continue to view concepts as primarily representational or skull-bound mental phenomena. As a result, dynamics of action possible impact material culture on conceptual thinking are poorly understood. In this paper, we explore process meaning from engagement perspective. We argue that is not matter forming representations head but something do-a way engaging with materiality. Conceptual thinging, namely kind unmediated practical knowledge individuals put into play when they engage, general way, through world. sense, propose instantiated coordination bodily practices artefacts sociomaterial activities. To elucidate perspective, introduce seven principles defining within an ecological-enactive framework cognition.

Abstract Cross‐task stability refers to performance consistency across different settings and measures of the same construct. can help us understand developmental processes, including how risks such as preterm birth affect outcomes. We investigated cross‐task attention control in 32 39 term infants. All infants had chronological age at time testing (5 months) but varied gestational (GA) (30–42 weeks). Infants completed an experimental following task with a researcher naturalistic play observation their mothers. Both demonstrated task. GA flexibility were related: likelihood no turn trials decreased increasing GA. To evaluate stability, we compared settings. Flexible shifts on positively related objects observation. Furthermore, association between flexible was moderated by Our study provides initial evidence that consolidation increases These findings highlight value comparing observational attention.
