Gastrointestinal tract harbours a very complex and dynamic community of microorganisms known as the 'gut microbiota'. These microbes are involved in various critical physiological processes, including digestion biomolecules, synthesis vitamins, modulation immune system, protection against pathogens. This chapter provides comprehensive overview gut brain axis. The delves into role microbial metabolites like short chain fatty acids, tryptophan bile acids neuronal neurotransmitter functioning. Cytokine release system activation can potentially change microbiota composition. psychological stress reducing beneficial bacteria increasing pathogenic composition has been detailed. Psychological lead to these consequences by altering permeability intestinal cells. effect compromised on health through altered activity discussed.

Correct nutrition and diet are directly correlated with mental health, functions of the immune system, gut microbiota composition. Diets a high content some nutrients, such as fibers, phytochemicals, short-chain fatty acids (omega-3 acids), seem to have an anti-inflammatory protective action on nervous system. Among nutraceuticals, supplementation probiotics omega-3 plays role in improving symptoms several disorders. In this review, we collect data efficacy nutraceuticals patients schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorders, major depression, bipolar disorder, personality This narrative review aims provide overview recent evidence obtained topic, pointing out direction for future research.

In recent years, the relationship between gut microbiota and human health has garnered significant attention. Notably, potential connection mental issues, such as depression anxiety, emerged a new focal point for research. While some studies suggest possible link these factors, field remains in its early stages of development, there are notable methodological sample size limitations. This study aims to systematically summarize knowledge systems, research hotspots, development trends related intestinal microflora within context conducted search publications Web Science Core Collection (WOSCC) prior August 6, 2024. The selected literature was subsequently analyzed using VOSviewer (v.1.6.20), SCImago Graphica (v.1.0.39), CiteSpace (v.6.3.1). encompassed total 1,046 publications, demonstrating consistent increase annual publication volume. primary countries identified China United States, with contributions from institutions University California College Cork, among others. Numerous studies have evidenced that neuropsychiatric disorders (mental illness and emotional disturbances) with aggression (or violence) pose a significant challenge to public health contribute substantial economic burden worldwide. Especially, social disorganization inequality) associated childhood adversity has long-lasting effects on mental health, increasing the risk of developing disorders. Intestinal bacteria, functionally as an endocrine organ second brain, release various immunomodulators bioactive compounds directly or indirectly regulating host’s physiological behavioral homeostasis. Under challenges, stress-induced dysbiosis increases gut permeability causes serial reactions: releasing neurotoxic compounds, leading neuroinflammation neuronal injury, eventually aggressive, violent, impulsive behavior in humans animals via complex bidirectional communication microbiota–gut–brain (MGB) axis. The dysregulation MGB axis also been recognized one reasons for prevalence injurious behaviors (feather pecking, aggression, cannibalistic pecking) chickens. However, existing knowledge preventing treating these both chickens is not well understood. In previous studies, we developed non-mammal model abnormal investigation by rationalizing microbiota Based our earlier success, perspective article outlines possibility reducing through modifying cecal transplantation, potential providing biotherapeutic rationale among individuals restoring diversity function.

Insects often rely on symbiotic bacteria and fungi for various physiological processes, developmental stages, defenses against parasites diseases. Despite their significance, the associations between bacterial fungal symbionts in Apis mellifera are not well studied, particularly Philippines. In this study, we collected A. from two different sites Municipality of Bacnotan, La Union, A gut microbiome analysis was conducted using next-generation sequencing with Illumina MiSeq platform. Bacterial community compositions were assessed 16S rRNA ITS gene sequences, respectively. Our findings confirm that adult worker bees locations possess distinct but comparably proportioned microbiomes. Key symbionts, including Lactobacillus, Bombilactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Gilliamella, Snodgrassella, Frischella, identified. The dominated by yeasts Zygosaccharomyces Priceomyces. Using ENZYME nomenclature database PICRUSt2 software version 2.5.2, a predicted functional enzyme revealed presence β-glucosidase, catalase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, glutathione transferase, superoxide dismutase, which involved host defense, carbohydrate metabolism, energy support. Additionally, identified notable enzymes, acetyl-CoA carboxylase AMPs nucleosidase. Interestingly, key bee observed to have negative correlation other microbiota. These results provide detailed characterization microbiota associated Philippines lay foundation further metagenomic studies microbiomes native or indigenous species region.
