Abstract Background Eco-anxiety is increasingly recognized as a shared experience by many people internationally, encompassing fear of environmental catastrophe and anxiety about ecological crises. Despite its importance in the context changing climate, measures for this construct are still being developed languages other than English. Methods To contribute to global eco-anxiety research, we translated Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS) into Spanish, creating HEAS-SP. We validated measure samples from both Argentina ( n = 990) Spain 548), performing measurement invariance confirmatory factor analyses. Internal consistency scale score stability over time were investigated through reliability Differences across sociodemographic variables explored Student’s t -tests Pearson’s r tests. Results The four-factor model HEAS-SP comprising affective behavioural symptoms, rumination, personal impact demonstrated excellent fit. found good internal each subscale, established between Spanish Argentine samples, well genders participants’ age. participants reported higher scores on symptoms factors compared Argentinian sample. Also, men lower levels women subscales anxiety. It was that relationship age varies significantly depending gender individuals. Younger tended report most dimensions eco-anxiety. Conclusions These findings enhance initiative investigate, explore therefore comprehend introducing first valid reliable Spanish-language version psychometric instrument use within populations. This study augments body evidence supporting robust properties HEAS, prior validations Australian, Turkish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian

Motivating climate action is challenging because the worst consequences of change are in future, triggering a conflict between short- and long-term interests. Prior research suggests that orienting to future facilitates pro-environmental behavior whereas orientation present inhibits it; however, we consider whether different temporal orientations simply make some kinds more attractive than others. The study tests this using structural equation modeling with two Australian samples. In first exploratory model (N = 967), followed by direct, pre-registered replication 953), examine how facets – consideration immediate predict intentions engage three at individual collective levels: conventional private-sphere, public-sphere, radical public-sphere action. The adverse impacts of climate change on mental health is a burgeoning area, although findings are inconsistent. emerging concept eco-anxiety represents distress in relation to and may be related health. aim this study was explore the relationship between with validated outcomes, specifically psychological symptoms major affective disorders. Systematic review. EBSCO, ProQuest, Web Science databases were searched February 2024 for studies adult samples quantifying (exposure, i.e. fear, worry or anxiety change) disorders (outcomes), as assessed by measures. Full text review 83 performed, k = 35 included (N 45 667, 61% female, Mage 31.2 years). Consistently, showed small large positive correlations outcomes distress, depression symptoms, stress symptoms. However, results regarding post-traumatic disorder pathological mixed. Stronger associations observed where operationalised 'anxiety' rather than 'worry'. Findings underscore that burden. Greater consideration assessment treatment needed clinical practice further policy development warranted at intersection address challenges posed change.

Abstract The increasing number of losses and damages caused by the climate crisis has rendered psychometric assessment more important than ever, specifically in developing countries, such as Turkey. aim this study was to examine properties Turkish version Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS-13), using exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) on cross-sectional data collected from 445 adults (286 females 159 males; Mage = 29.76, range 18–65). results supported four-factor solution original sample. Further analysis confirmed invariance HEAS-13 across genders. demonstrated significant correlations subscales with Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) Anthropocentric Narcissism (ANS), except for that between behavioral symptoms subscale ANS. Both total scores were also found be reliable, given internal consistency test–retest reliability values. can expand scientific understanding eco-anxiety, which help develop mental health services mitigate negative impacts environmental crisis.

By vigorously promoting eco-friendly recreational activities within World Agricultural Heritage sites, we can evoke tourists’ emotional understanding empathy environmental protection. This approach presents an optimal solution to challenges faced realizing value these heritage thereby fostering even deeper harmony between people nature. For this study, Anxi Tie Guan Yin Tea Cultural System, site agricultural significance, was chosen case study. Employing structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis, survey administered 452 local tourists for empirical testing. research reveals several key findings: (1) Tourists’ concern exerts notably positive influence on their pro-environmental behaviors; (2) both anxiety serve mediators relationship (3) furthermore, exhibit sequential, or chain, mediation effect (4) lastly, impact behaviors differs according gender. Consequently, managers sites should aim sense while appropriately stimulating anxiety, providing guidance ensuring blend human environment ultimately sustainable development sites.

Abstract This paper explores the relationship between society-related fears and personal mental health. Respondents of an online survey representing German population (18 + years) answered how much they are worried about eight societal developments (armed conflicts, social inequality, rise right-wing extremism, crime terror, immigration, climate change, artificial intelligence, pandemics). The analysis demonstrate that sum score is significantly associated with higher levels anxiety depression. Particularly concerns poverty, digitalization pandemics depression scores. Further explorations show specific intermingled political ideologies, i.e. people fear different according to their ideological standpoints. Politically left-leaning individuals regard change rising extremism as more threatening, while politically right-leaning individuals’ relate strongly migrants, terror crime. largest negative effect on health poverty armed conflicts for who identify left right.
