Cognitive
behavioral
therapy
is
an
effective
treatment
for
body
dysmorphic
disorder
(BDD),
but
many
patients
do
not
receive
appropriate
due
to
several
barriers
and
psychosocial
care
structures.
Low-threshold
interventions,
including
those
from
the
field
of
e-mental
health,
could
improve
access
psychotherapy.
In
addition
internet-administered
therapy,
telephone-administered
may
reduce
barriers,
especially
during
COVID-19
pandemic.
This
article
presents
four
case
reports
same
(12
weeks
cognitive
accompanied
by
a
workbook)
applied
with
summer
2020.
Three
who
completed
had
clinically
relevant
reductions
in
depressive
symptoms
improved
insight.
One
patient
did
complete
because
her
worsened,
she
needed
more
intensive
form
treatment.
These
findings
encourage
future
studies
on
efficacy

dysmorphic
disorder
(BDD)
is
a
relatively
common
and
highly
impairing
mental
that
strikingly
underdiagnosed

Adolescent
Mental
Health
Services
(CAMHS).

guidelines
for
the
management
of
BDD
youth
were
published
nearly
20
years
ago,
when
empirical
knowledge

last

years,

Abstract
Background
Body
dysmorphic
disorder
(BDD)
is
particularly
prevalent
yet
highly
understudied
and
undertreated
in
adolescence.
This
study
evaluates
the
efficacy
of
an
internet-based,
therapist-guided
cognitive
behavioral
therapy
(CBT)
for
adolescents
young
adults
with
BDD
compared
to
supportive
online
as
active
control
condition.
Methods
In
a
single-blind,
randomized
controlled
trial,
N
=
45
(aged
15–21
years)
all
genders
from
German-speaking
countries
were
assigned
12
sessions
internet-based
CBT
(iCBT)
or
weeks
therapy.
