Abstract
In
this
chapter
we
consider
identity:
what
William
James
(1890)
labeled
as
“the
most
puzzling
puzzle
with
which
psychology
has
to
deal.”
The
is
comprised
of
three
parts.
First,
introduce
common
understandings
identity
and
disturbance
in
the
context
ICD-11
personality
disorders
(PD).
particular,
focus
on
temporal
sense
narrative
identity,
understood
dynamic
story
people
construct
about
their
past,
present,
presumed
future
a
promising,
though
less-studied
aspect
PD.
Next,
review
state-of-the-art
assessments
(e.g.,
AIDA,
LoPF-Q;
STiP-5,
AMPD)
discuss
clinical
utility.
We
end
by
discussing
role
(narrative)
PD
psychotherapy,

toward

Introduction
This
study
investigates
age-related
differences
in
Borderline
Personality
Disorder
(BPD)
traits
and
childhood
maltreatment
(CM)
experiences
among
adolescents,
young
adults,
older
adults
within
a
clinical
sample.
Methods
A
cross-sectional
design
was
employed,
involving
2029
outpatients
aged
15-50
years
from
the
Shanghai
Mental
Health
Center.
BPD
were
assessed
using
Diagnostic
Questionnaire
4th
Edition
Plus
(PDQ-4+),
CM
evaluated
Child
Trauma
Short
Form
(CTQ-SF).
Participants
categorized
into
three
age
groups:
adolescents
(15-21
years),
(22-30
(31-50
years).
Results
Adolescents
reported
significantly
higher
frequencies
of
diagnoses
compared
to
(

=0.036).

Background
The
majority
of
mental
health
services
include
patients
with
personality
disorder
(PD)
and
comorbid
conditions.
Alexithymia,
a
psychological
construct
referring
to
difficulties
in
identifying

Abstract
Background
Since
its
introduction
in
the
diagnostic
manuals
DSM-5
and
ICD-11,
construct
of
personality
functioning
has
gained
increasing
attention.
However,
it
remains
unclear
which
factors
might
predict
improvement
functioning.
Methods
We
examined
a
sample
648
completed
psychodynamic
psychotherapies
conducted
by
172
therapists
at
Heidelberg
Institute
for
Psychotherapy.
A
machine
learning
approach
was
used
to
filter
variables
that
are
relevant
prediction
from
broad
data
set
collected
beginning
each
psychotherapy.
Results
On
average,
we
found
an
0.24
(SD
=
0.48)
OPD-SQ.
This
corresponds
medium
effect
Patients
with
initially
high
impairment
experienced
particularly
large
improvements.
Overall,
