Epidemics and outbreaks present arduous challenges, requiring both individual communal efforts. The significant medical, emotional, financial burden associated with epidemics creates feelings of distrust, fear, loss control, making vulnerable populations prone to exploitation manipulation through misinformation, rumors, conspiracies. use social media sites has increased in the last decade. As a result, amounts public data can be leveraged for biosurveillance. Social also provide platform quickly efficiently reach sizable percentage population; therefore, they have potential role various aspects epidemic mitigation. This systematic literature review aimed methodical overview integration 3 epidemic-related contexts: monitoring, misinformation detection, relationship mental health. aim is understand how been used these contexts, which gaps need further research Three questions, related health, were conceptualized this review. In first PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses) stage, 13,522 publications collected from several digital libraries (PubMed, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, MDPI, ACM, ACL) gray sources (arXiv ProQuest), spanning 2010 2022. A total 242 (1.79%) papers selected inclusion synthesized identify themes, methods, studied, used. Five main themes identified literature, as follows: forecasting surveillance, opinion understanding, fake news identification characterization, health assessment, association psychological outcomes. found an efficient tool gauge response, monitor discourse, misleading news, estimate toll epidemics. Introduction Social interaction is a vital source of human development, yet neuroscientific research delineating its neural correlates in large groups scarce. Music as rhythmic signal, and meditation, have been shown to induce group synchronization pro-social behavior. However, their impact on adolescents may vary, the related brain functions remain underexplored. This study investigates effects mindfulness meditation 6 Hz high-entropy music complexity high school students. Methods Twenty-eight underwent single-channel EEG at forehead during three 5-minute conditions: rest, music. Alpha band power correlations assessed synchronization. Graph analyses quantified network properties. Results Mean correlation was highest music, then lowest with significant differences between both rest meditation. Meditation had clustering coefficient small-world index, suggesting more integrated efficient networks. demonstrated largest information cascades synergy, indicating extensive integration. Conclusion induced strongest While altered dynamics compared they worked distinctly. yielded connectivity; greatest element-wise correlation. Future larger samples recommended optimize interventions for adolescent well-being social connectedness.

The increased social media usage during the COVID-19 pandemic raised concern about addiction (SMA), especially among adolescents. current study aimed to assess prevalence of adolescents' SMA in Hong Kong before and pandemic, examine effects general parenting behaviors Internet-specific practices by fathers mothers respectively on SMA, analyze moderating roles relationship between parental SMA. This employed a two-wave longitudinal design. A total 878 secondary school students (53.9% were girls, age = 13.19 ± 0.52 years at wave 1) completed questionnaire-based survey 2019 2020. Paired-samples proportions tests revealed that there was no significant change pre-pandemic (10.7%) post-pandemic (9.7%) periods. Multiple regression analyses indicated paternal responsiveness negatively maternal positively associated with Surprisingly, both reactive restrictive mediations Interaction showed moderates co-use demandingness rule-setting findings called for more comprehensive theoretical models consider interplay parenting, highlighted need tailored interventions mothers, respectively. Moreover, counterproductive effect mediation deserves attention from researchers, workers, parents.
