Abstract
A
cross-sectional,
retrospective
study
was
conducted
from
October
2013
through
July
2014
to
determine
the
prevalence
of
refractive
errors
among
students
attending
public
primary
schools
in
Mexico.
Among
3,861,156

14,566

states

The
global
burden
of
myopia
continues
to
expand,
and
the
prevalence
in
East
Asian
populations
is
particular
concern.
With
substantial
increase
screen-based
electronic
devices,
screen
time
has
emerged
as
a
potential
risk
factor.
This
review
examined
relationship
between
viewing
duration
public
health
strategies
reduce
exposure
among
children.
We
conducted
an
evidence-based
only
meta-analyses
investigating
association,
searching
PubMed
from
inception
January
20,
2025.
Four
six
reviewed
supported
association
prolonged
use
(>
2
or
3hours/day)
increased
risk.
However,
methodological
limitations
include
predominance
cross-sectional
study
designs,
self-reported
measurements,

cycloplegic
refraction

meta-analyses.

on
