This study is a preliminary assessment of the emerging and persistent contaminants (EPCs) in ecologically sensitive Kamphuan Stream Southern Thailand. The analysis 15 compounds revealed that EPC concentrations below main community were significantly elevated during rainy season, with highest levels found for sucralose (9070 ng/L), metformin (6250 fexofenadine (5110 gabapentin (3060 ng/L). These spatiotemporal patterns highlight episodic nature contamination driven by urban stormwater runoff, where rainfall events create temporary pathways transport EPCs to streams draining into coastal ecosystems. Maximum three pharmaceuticals (diclofenac, gemfibrozil, ibuprofen), as well sucralose, caffeine, fenobucarb, exceeded general predicted no-effect (PNECs) marine or fresh waters; however, these not persistent. Limited sampling across campaigns constrained ability fully characterize dynamics this issue through statistical inference. Furthermore, risk assessments absence locally derived PNECs tropical ecosystems organisms, along limited standardization PNEC determination methodologies, making definitive conclusions challenging. A comparative five priority metformin, naproxen, fluoxetine) against existing data from East Southeast Asia underscores need further research evaluate ecological risks posed diverse rivers streams. Future studies should focus on greatest importance, investigate their transformation products, identify sources pathways, assess environmental aquatic

Three-dimensional heteroatom-doped graphene presents a state-of-the-art approach for effective remediation of pharmaceutical wastewater on account its distinguished adsorption and physicochemical attributes. Amitriptyline is an emerging tricyclic antidepressant pollutant posing severe risks to living habitats through water supply food chain. With ultra-large surface area plentiful chemical functional groups, oxide favorable adsorbent decontaminating polluted water. Herein, new boron-doped composite reinforced with carboxymethyl cellulose was successfully developed via solution-based synthesis. Characterization study revealed that the formed by sheets intertwined into porous network engrafted 13.37 at% boron. The has zero charge at pH 6 contained various groups favoring attachment amitriptyline. It also found mere 10 mg able achieve relatively high amitriptyline removal (89.31%) 50 ppm solution concentration 30 °C. attained equilibrium within 60 min across concentrations ranging from 300 ppm. kinetic were well correlated pseudo-second-order Langmuir models, respectively, portraying highest capacity 737.4 mg/g. Notably, predominant mechanism chemisorption assisted physisorption contributed outstanding saturated sufficiently regenerated using ethanol eluent. results highlighted impressive performance as-synthesized in treating amitriptyline-containing waste effluent.

Pharmaceuticals, microplastics, and oil spills are the most hazardous contaminants in aquatic environments. The COVID-19 pandemic enhanced pharmaceutical microplastic contamination present study aimed to investigate prevalence of pollution on a global scale. This assessed results 25 countries 13 countries. findings show that residues were detected surface water, groundwater, wastewater influents effluents. In total, 43 types products Caffeine, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, sulfamethoxazole, carbamazepine abundant. 32 polymers case polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate more abundant polymers. Particles with size 1–2.5 mm 2.5–5 accounted for half microplastics provides new evidence importance emerging pollutants environments before during pandemic.

The presence of pharmaceutical wastes in the environment has adversely impacted marine biodiversity due to their hazardous and bioaccumulation nature. This research focussed on development an effective phosphorus-doped 3D graphene oxide with bentonite carboxymethylcellulose crosslinking (PG/BCC) for removal imipramine wastewater. impacts single factor (adsorbent dosage, initial concentration, system temperature contact time) adsorption were examined by batch experiments while interactive multiple factors process optimisation investigated central composite design (CCD). greatest capacity evaluated was 458.95 mg/g at following CCD optimised operating parameters: 10 mg PG/BCC, 250 ppm 34 min time 321 K temperature. Langmuir model described well equilibrium whilst pseudo-second-order correlated closely kinetic data. imipramine-PG/BCC spontaneous (-19.235 −27.583 kJ/mol) endothermic (1.230 14.562 as from thermodynamic modelling. Abstract There is growing evidence of negative impacts antidepressants on behavior aquatic non-target organisms. Accurate environmental risk assessment requires an understanding whether with similar modes action have consistent impacts. Here, we tested the effect acute exposure to two antidepressants, fluoxetine and venlafaxine (0–50 µg/L), organism, i.e., freshwater pond snail, Lymnaea stagnalis . As compounds interact chemical cues in ecosystems, also effects altered presence bile extract containing 5α-cyprinol sulfate (5α-CPS), a characterized kairomone natural predator, common carp ( Cyprinus carpio ). Behavior was studied using automated tracking analysis various locomotion parameters L. stagnalis. Our results suggest that there are differences upon fluoxetine. We found strong for non-monotonic dose response exposure, whereas only showed weak specific concentration. Combined 5α-CPS reduced intensity observed absence 5α-CPS, possibly due bioavailability compounds. The highlight need acknowledging different mechanisms among while investigating their risks. In addition, our underline importance reporting non-significant individual variation assessment. Graphical
