Although some reports suggest that COVID-19 vaccination may exacerbate existing autoimmune diseases or trigger new-onset cases, a definitive causal relationship between the vaccines and these conditions has not been established. Several potential mechanisms have proposed to explain this association, including: (i) molecular mimicry, which refers structural similarity SARS-CoV-2 human antigens; (ii) bystander activation, involving both B T lymphocytes; (iii) effects of adjuvants. In study, we investigated whether two doses mRNA vaccine influenced blood cytokine levels associated with major helper cell populations, are known play significant role in autoimmunity revisited humoral response directed against heat shock proteins (Hsps) individuals no history COVID-19. While differences were found IFN-γ, IL-6, IL-22, IL-4, IL-8, IL-10, IL-17A, vaccinated unvaccinated people, several positive correlations observed serum circulating autoantibodies self-Hsps exclusively individuals. These findings does impact cytokines involved pathogenesis diseases. Further research is required evaluate safety patients conditions, particularly those whom anti-Hsps suspected contribute disease development.

There is an increasing body of knowledge regarding how COVID-19 may be associated with ocular disease varying severity and duration. This article discusses the literature on manifestations COVID-19, including appraisal current evidence, suggested mechanisms action, comorbidities risk factors, timing from initial infection to diagnosis clinical red flags. The primarily comprises case reports series which inevitably lack control groups evidence support causality. However, these early data have prompted development larger population-based laboratory studies that are emerging. As new become available, a better true effects eye will possible. While pandemic was officially declared no longer "global health emergency" by World Health Organization (WHO) in May 2023, numbers continue rise. Reinfection different variants predicted lead growing cumulative burden disease, particularly as more chronic, multi-organ sequelae apparent potentially significant implications. postulated due three main mechanisms: firstly, there dysregulated immune response linked inflammatory disease; secondly, patients greater tendency towards hypercoagulable state, leading prothrombotic events; thirdly, severe requiring hospitalisation immunosuppressed administered corticosteroids or such diabetes mellitus at increased secondary infections, endophthalmitis rhino-orbital-mucormycosis. Reported ophthalmic associations therefore, include range conditions conjunctivitis, scleritis, uveitis, endogenous endophthalmitis, corneal graft rejection, retinal artery vein occlusion, non-arteritic ischaemic optic neuropathy, glaucoma, neurological orbital sequelae. With need consider telemedicine consultation view COVID-19's infectivity, understanding present during following essential ensure appropriately triaged, prompt in-person examination for management sight-threatening life-threatening diseases.

ABSTRACT Context Thyroid eye disease (TED) is an autoimmune characterized by orbital inflammation and tissue remodeling. TED pathogenesis poorly understood but linked to autoantibodies thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1R). Objective To explore the potential involvement of viral infections in pathogenesis. Methods Using NCBI BLAST, we compared human TSHR IGF-1R proteins various proteomes, including Papillomaviridae , Paramyxoviridae Herpesviridae Enterovirus Polyomaviridae Rhabdoviridae . Enzyme-linked immunoassays (ELISAs) were performed on adipose samples from 22 patients controls quantify antiviral antibody titers. Demographics clinical data reviewed. Results Homology analysis revealed conserved motifs between with several proteins, particularly papillomavirus 18 (HPV18) L1 capsid protein. Basic demographic information cohorts comparable. ELISAs showed statistically significant differences average HPV18 IgG normalized optical density levels among tissues control ( M = 0.9387, SD 0.3548), chronic 2.305, 1.064), active acute 4.087, 2.034) patients. These elevated titers did not correlate TSH, T4, or TSI levels, irrespective treatment teprotumumab, indicating a direct immunological response HPV. Conclusions This study presents first molecular evidence linking HPV TED, highlighting mimicry protein key autoimmunity targets TED. suggests link contributing TED’s pathogenesis, opening new avenues for understanding managing disease.
