Colorectal cancer is one of the most prevalent and deadly types worldwide. Emerging evidence suggests that high body mass index (BMI) a significant risk factor for colorectal cancer, particularly among older adult population. This comprehensive analysis aims to explore complex epidemiological patterns with focus on association between BMI disease burden in adult. The study leveraged data from Global Burden Disease (GBD) 2021 examine temporal trends, regional disparities, interplay age, period, cohort factors shaping global landscape. Epidemiological techniques, including age-period-cohort modeling joinpoint regression analysis, were employed provide insights into potential drivers evolving while controlling relevant confounding factors. revealed geographical disparities Countries like Uruguay, Monaco, Croatia, Hungary, Poland exhibited higher mortality disability-adjusted life-year (DALY) rates, regions Bangladesh, Nepal, much Africa had relatively lower burden. These differences are likely attributable variations healthcare systems, access screening early detection programs, as well lifestyle behaviors prevalence. strong risk, population men, emphasizes importance obesity management strategies part control efforts. Targeted interventions, such community-based weight programs enhanced initiatives high-risk regions, could help mitigate disproportionate observed countries Hungary. Ongoing research multifaceted public health interventions crucial address growing impact vulnerable populations. Strengthening improving quality care, promoting modifications reduce other modifiable should be prioritized effectively combat this pressing challenge.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer, with a significant burden on healthcare and social systems. Its incidence constantly rising, due to spread unhealthy lifestyle, i.e. Western diet. Increasing evidence suggests that westernization-driven microbiome alterations may play critical role in colorectal tumorigenesis. The current screening strategies for this neoplasm, mainly fecal immunochemical tests, are burdened by unsatisfactory accuracy. Novel, non-invasive biomarkers rising as new frontier screening, microbiome-based ones showing positive optimistic results. This Review describes our knowledge gut microbiota from its pathogenetic action clinical potential diagnostic biomarker.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) affects approximately 2 million people worldwide. Obesity is the major risk factor for CRC. In addition, obesity contributes to a chronic inflammatory stage that enhances tumor progression through secretion of proinflammatory cytokines. addition an increased response, obesity-associated presents accrued molecular factors related characteristics, such as genome instability, sustained cell proliferation, telomere dysfunctions, angiogenesis, and microbial alteration, among others. Despite evidence accumulated over last few years, treatments CRC do not differ from in normal-weight individuals. this review, we summarize current knowledge on cancer, including its epidemiology, factors, treatments. Finally, enumerate possible new therapeutic targets may improve conditions obese patients. key development CRC, resulting reversal should be considered strategy improving antineoplastic therapies.
