Background The Power Over Pain (POP) Portal is a digital platform that provides people living with pain (PLWP) flexible access to chronic self-management resources. Aims To (1) determine the feasibility of an adequately-powered multisite trial POP in tertiary settings; (2) understand acceptability and usability Portal; (3) explore clinical effectiveness among PLWP awaiting first visit care clinic. Methods Mixed-methods pilot-feasibility study inform future definitive trial. Feasibility was assessed using recruitment retention rates. Acceptability, usability, patient outcomes were measured validated surveys completed at baseline 3-month follow-up, semistructured interviews conducted after follow-up. Results Forty-one participants follow-up nine interviews. We reached rate 83.75% 61.19%, respectively. There reduction interference ( p = .024) belief medical cure .033) for 3 months. Surveys indicate satisfied Portal, it had good usability. Some indicated overwhelming, certain resources difficult access, indicating modifications could be made improve ease use. Conclusions deemed acceptable usability; however, modification may improvement. A can proceed enhancements portal, protocol, close monitoring.

Abstract Background Proctor and colleagues’ 2011 paper proposed a taxonomy of eight implementation outcomes challenged the field to address research agenda focused on conceptualization, measurement, theory building. Ten years later, this maps field’s progress in research. This scoping review describes how each outcome has been studied, designs methods used, contexts settings represented current literature. We also describe role relation strategies other outcomes. Methods Arksey O’Malley’s framework for conducting reviews guided our methods. Using forward citation tracing, we identified all literature citing paper. conducted search Web Science (WOS) database added alerts sent first author from publisher 6-month period coinciding with WOS search. produced 1346 titles abstracts. Initial abstract screening yielded 480 manuscripts, full-text 400 manuscripts that met inclusion criteria (empirical assessment at least one outcome). Results Slightly more than half (52.1%) included examined acceptability. Fidelity (39.3%), feasibility (38.6%), adoption (26.5%), appropriateness (21.8%) were commonly examined. Penetration (16.0%), sustainability (15.8%), cost (7.8%) less frequently Thirty-two not original taxonomy. Most studies took place healthcare (45.8%) or behavioral health (22.5%) organizations. Two-thirds used observational designs. found little evidence testing relationships between outcomes, leaving us ill-prepared know achieve success. Moreover, few tested impact important types, such as service systems improved individual population health. Conclusions Our presents comprehensive snapshot questions being addressed by existing reveals need rigorous, analytic tests attaining next 10

Abstract There remains a need to synthesize linkages between social determinants of health (SDOH) and cancer screening reduce persistent inequities contributing the US burden. The authors conducted systematic review US‐based breast, cervical, colorectal, lung intervention studies summarize how SDOH have been considered in interventions relationships screening. Five databases were searched for peer‐reviewed research articles published English 2010 2021. Covidence software platform was used screen extract data using standardized template. Data items included study characteristics, components measures, outcomes. findings summarized descriptive statistics narratives. 144 among diverse population groups. increased rates overall by median 8.4 percentage points (interquartile interval, 1.8–18.8 points). objective most increase community demand (90.3%) access (84.0%) related care quality prevalent (227 unique components). Other SDOH, including educational, social/community, environmental, economic factors, less common (90, 52, 21, zero components, respectively). Studies that analyses policy, care, lower costs yielded largest proportions favorable associations with predominantly measured at individual level. This describes design evaluation effect sizes interventions. Findings may guide future implementation aiming inequities.

Abstract Despite investments in evidence-based interventions and Implementation Science, most are not widely or routinely adopted, delivered, sustained many real-world community healthcare settings. This gap is even greater settings populations experiencing numerous social structural barriers to health, with important implications for persistent patterns health inequities. In this Viewpoint, as part of a Special Issue on Advancing the Adaptability Chronic Disease Prevention Management through Science , we outline seven calls action field goal encouraging researchers, practitioners, funders be more intentional accountable applying have impact promoting equity. Calls include (1) enhance public community, multi-sectoral partnerships promote equity equitable implementation; (2) revisit build evidence base needed at multiple levels; (3) prioritize focus policy development, dissemination, (4) agile responsive application frameworks, processes, methods; (5) identify redefine meaningful metrics impact; (6) disseminate scientific research diverse range partners potential beneficiaries; (7) extend de-implementation, mis-implementation, sustainability which central enhancing Additionally, why prevention essential making progress towards summarize advancements that has made foundational, pose questions work area.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) are disproportionately affected by HIV, accounting for two-thirds of HIV cases in the United States despite representing ∼5% adult population. Delivery and use existing highly effective prevention treatment strategies remain suboptimal among MSM. To summarize state science, we systematically review implementation determinants HIV-related health interventions using science frameworks. Research on barriers has focused predominantly characteristics individual recipients (e.g., ethnicity, age, drug use) less so deliverers nurses, physicians), little focus system-level factors. Similarly, most target to influence their uptake adherence, rather than improving supporting systems. research is burgeoning; future needed broaden examination at provider system levels, as well expand knowledge how match barriers—particularly address stigma. Collaboration coordination federal, state, local public agencies; community-based organizations; care providers; scientists important successful innovations.

This article discusses psychosocial interventions in the contexts they are meant to be delivered. Prevention and intervention science often follow linear pathway of preclinical or pre-intervention research-efficacy trials, effectiveness implementation studies-with assessment translation into public population health impact occurring at end. translational follows stages developed for ascertaining safe, efficacious, effective dosages biological compounds. approach has created limitations need rapidly deploy complex, multi-component, multilevel approaches change behavior improve widespread practice diverse clinical settings. While it is important use efficacy trials when safety yet established, risks identified low, as case interventions, we can go faster achieve equitable impact. The authors recommend that trialists engaged development incorporate two considerations next generation prevention research. First, consider moving right pragmatic most valid test an est context(s) which intended. Second, designing studies, investigating questions related both (i.e., does outcomes) what supports needed routinely context) accelerate As a matter ethics equity, there expedite research-to-practice pipeline pace than made available through current approaches.
