There is increasing pressure for consumers to adopt sustainable lifestyles; however, there widespread confusion and lack of clear information relating appropriate food packaging disposal. This paper explores quizzes as a strategy test disposal knowledge encourage engagement in UK varying ages. Three hundred eleven (4 85 years) completed the symbols at various community-based events. In summary, quiz performance was encouraging; it associated with gaps such (tidyman green dot) (cleaning mixed materials). Positively, nearly 90% are interested modulating future behaviour; hence, capitalising on findings key going forwards. Therefore, use an effective engage community settings. Future work should focus ensuring have access relevant coupled improved recycling infrastructure so that households can easily implement everyday behaviour.

Non-biodegradable plastics have been extensively used for food packaging due to their outstanding properties that preserve quality during transportation and shelf-life. The global awareness of plastic pollution has led the development environmentally friendly technologies such as biodegradable polymers, edible films coatings, active or smart packaging. However, petroleum-based polymers market seems not be interested in setting back current waste management strategies continue deficient both technical economic aspects. This work aimed provide insights into state-of-the-art based on advances made improve moisture, heat, barrier novel materials could close gap conventional terms performance costs. literature review takes a multidisciplinary approach, focusing required potential impact physicochemical products. aim is identify gaps between demand impede alignment industry with environmental policies. Several sustainable options were identified, biopolymers like PLA PBAT. most successful solutions are up PVA, chitosan, gelatin, proteins. In cases, addition essential oils, natural extracts, nanoparticles material demonstrated its effectiveness improving ensuring preservation over an extended period shelf. significant research identified regarding scaling despite technology appearing sufficiently advanced practical implementation. Hence, it necessary only optimize parameters enhance functionality mechanical but demonstrate feasibility industrial production. Furthermore, assess impact. This work evaluates the preparedness of packaging industry towards more circular, sustainable solutions for fresh meat and fish. The term bioplastic is ill-defined, creating confusion between all stakeholders in value chain. implementation as food contact material will only occur when there are demonstrated that can equally or better protect fish from spoilage, compared to conventional plastic. Biodegradable polymers and their blends have been advised as an eco-sustainable solution; however, the generation of microplastics (MPs) from degradation in aquatic environments is still not fully grasped. In this study, we investigated formation bio-microplastics (BMPs) changes physicochemical properties blown packaging films based on polylactic acid (PLA), polybutylene succinate (PBS) a PBS/PLA 70/30 wt% blend after different media. The tests were carried out two temperature/light conditions to simulate either warm water, under sunlight exposure (named Warm Light—W&L), cold deep water Cold Dark—C&D). pH aqueous evaluated, while formed BMPs analyzed for size shape alongside with variations polymer crystallinity, surface mechanical properties. W&L conditions, all films, hydrolytic led reorganization crystalline phases, strong embrittlement increase hydrophilicity. exhibited increased resistance respect neat PLA PBS films. C&D no microparticles observed up 12 weeks degradation.

Purpose Edible food packaging provides a solution to the solid waste problem caused by traditional packaging. However, tourists’ readiness adopt this novel technology is unclear. Design/methodology/approach An online survey was conducted examine how motivated consumer innovativeness (CI), environmental awareness, perceived behavioral control, subjective norms and attitudes influence tourists' purchase behaviors in context of edible tourism industry. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.2.8. Findings results analysis indicate that each sub-factor positively influences attitudes. Additionally, attitudes, norms, control personal found significantly impact intentions. Environmental awareness moderate relationships between (1) intention, (2) intention (3) attitude intention. These findings expand applicability diffusion innovation, planned behavior theories, offering useful insights for foodservice professionals. Research limitations/implications This study emphasizes key implications industries, as consumers an innovative higher are more likely Identifying these factors will help stakeholders establish effective strategies reduction through solutions.
