Optimal management of nitrogen fertilizer profoundly impacts sustainable development by influencing use efficiency (NUE) and seed cotton yield. However, the effect long-term gradient application on sandy loam soil is unclear. Therefore, we conducted an 8-year field study (2014–2021) using six levels: 0 kg/hm 2 (N0), 75 (N1), 150 (N2), 225 (N3), 300 (N4), 375 (N5). The experiment showed that 1) Although had insignificantly affected basic fertility, total (STN) content decreased 5.71%–19.67%, 6.67%–16.98%, 13.64%–21.74% at 0-cm–20-cm, 20-cm–40-cm, 40-cm–60-cm layers, respectively. 2) reproductive organs N3 plants highest accumulation dry matter in both years. Increasing rate gradually allocation ratio to organs. 3) boll number per unit area was largest among all treatments On loam, most optional 190 –270 for high yield with minimal loss reduced environment pollution.

In artificial grassland systems, the extensive use of inorganic nitrogen (N) fertilizers has greatly enhanced yields but also caused significant environmental issues. The combined biochar and N fertilizer is recognized as an effective sustainable approach to reducing risks while boosting crop production. However, specific impacts on alfalfa yield, soil properties, root morphology remain unclear. This study examined effects three application rates (0, 10, 20 t hm−2) four levels 47, 94, 188 kg hm−2 yr−1) growth characteristics. Results revealed that notably promoted development increased osmoregulatory substance content. It biomass by improving nodule count, neck bud formation, diameter, reduced numbers. Biochar bulk density 0.8–10.5%, with further increasing available phosphorus potassium levels. Additionally, their significantly elevated nitrate ammonium concentrations. Overall, synergy enhances yield fostering better fertility.

Biochar is frequently utilized as a helpful amendment to sustain agricultural productivity. However, it remains uncertain whether biochar can effectively replace chemical fertilizers, especially in karst regions. To investigate the effects of co-applying and fertilizer on biological characteristics uptake pod peppers, well determine optimal ratio two-year field experiment was conducted southwest China. The results showed that, compared locally typical treatment (CF), combined application significantly increased yield both fresh dry pepper. Chemical reduction also ameliorated fruit quality, nutrient accumulation, improved utilization efficiency. What more, although employment made production costs higher, fertilizers increase economic efficiency, CF70B (70%CF + biochar). In conclusion, moderate amounts instead may be valid management strategy for pepper mountain areas, which beneficial maintaining stability, improving increasing net income.

In recent years, vermicompost (V) has been widely used as an amendment for improving crop productivity and soil quality. However, the ameliorative effect of on continuous cropping pepper remains unclear, particularly in karst areas southwestern China. A field experiment was conducted to study application yield, quality, nutrient accumulation, fertilizer utilization, economic benefits from 2021 2022. The included six treatments: CK (no fertilizer), FP (the fertilization practice local farmers), FPV (FP combined with 1500, 2250, 3000, 3750 kg·ha−1). results show that increased yield fresh pod by 28.34–51.36% (2021) 47.13–68.82% (2022), whereas dry 16.97–35.14% 34.48–62.61% respectively, compared treatment. reduced nitrate content vitamin C (VC) soluble sugar fruits, which is beneficial their Vermicompost not only uptake but also significantly improved agronomic efficiency (AE) recovery (RE). addition, although production costs, increase net incomes (16.02–31.83% 35.83–62.85% 2022), especially FPV4 conclusion, use had a positive pepper, may be effective management strategy mountain southwest

Biochar application has been confirmed as an efficient way to increase the productivity of agricultural system. However, potential biochar combined with reducing fertilization on yield, and fertilizer utilization efficiency rice (Oryza sativa) farming system acidic soil remains be further studied. Field micro-plot experiments two factors were performed in 2018 2019 evaluate responses yield nutrient (60, 80, 100 t/ha) reduction (70%, 85%, standard doses N-P-K fertilizer). Taoyouxiangzhan Taiyou 553 used late growing season 2019, respectively. The results showed that compared control without adding under fertilization, 70% had no negative effects N, P, K accumulation after application. increased partial fertilizers was decreased. agronomic significantly applications fertilizer. In both years, micro-plots highest N P physiological efficiency, well 2019. Compared different combinations by 34.24~75.48%, 27.44~84.84%, 78.52~166.70%, To sum up, can partially substitute for production acid paddy fields southern China. When amount added is ≥60 t/ha, still ensure absorption rice, improve stable rice.

Recently, biochar (B) and vermicompost (V) have been widely used as amendments to improve crop productivity soil quality. However, the ameliorative effects of on continuous cropping pepper under open-air conditions, particularly in karst areas southwestern China, remain unclear. A field experiment was conducted study application, alone or combination, yield, quality, nutrient accumulation, fertilizer utilization, economic benefits from 2021 2022. The included six treatments: CK (no fertilizer), TF (traditional fertilization local farmers), TFB (TF combined with 3000 kg·ha-1), TFV TFBV1 1500 kg·ha-1 TFBV2 kg·ha-1). Compared treatment, application combination increased yield fresh pod by 24.38-50.03% 31.61-88.92% 2022, respectively, whereas dry 14.69-40.63% 21.44-73.29% respectively. reduced nitrate content vitamin C (VC) soluble sugar fruits, which is beneficial for improving their Biochar not only uptake but also significantly improved agronomic efficiency (AE) recovery (RE). In addition, although production costs, increase net income (ranging 0.77 22.34% 8.82 59.96% 2022), treatment. conclusion, use had a positive effect cropping, co-application could be an effective management strategy mountain southwest China.
