Abstract Pink pigmentation on massive corals is quite commonly observed in the global reefs, but its function surface area of less understood. In present study, coral video transect method was employed to document incidence pink Porites colonies from 21 islands under Gulf Mannar Marine Biosphere Reserve (GoMMBR), India. Results revealed that 19% (n = 77 out 517) sp. displayed as a stress indicator response colonization epibionts. exhibited when infected with epibionts like vermetid snail, Ceraesignum (12%; n 49), rhodolith, Hydrolithon (5%; 21), or both (2%; 7). This study indicates pigment deposition aids minimizing tissue damage by preventing further progression infesting agents such vermitid snails and rhodoliths areas corals.

Microalgae are used in various biotechnological processes, such as biofuel production due to their high biomass yields, agriculture biofertilizers, of high-value-added products, decontamination wastewater, or biological models for carbon sequestration. The number these applications is increasing, and such, any advances that contribute reducing costs increasing economic profitability can have a significant impact. Nitrogen fixing organisms, often called diazotroph, also great potential, mainly an alternative chemical fertilizers. Microbial consortia typically perform more complex tasks than monocultures execute functions challenging even impossible individual strains species. Interestingly, microalgae diazotrophic organisms capable embrace different types symbiotic associations. Certain corals lichens exhibit this relationship nature, which enhances fitness. However, be artificially created laboratory conditions with the objective enhancing some processes each organism carries out independently. As result, utilization garnering interest potential yields biomass, well producing derived products serving purposes. This review makes effort examine associations aim highlighting improving processes.

Seaweed research has gained substantial momentum in recent years, attracting the attention of researchers, academic institutions, industries, policymakers, and philanthropists to explore its potential applications benefits. Despite growing body literature, there is a paucity comprehensive scientometric analyses, highlighting need for an in-depth investigation. In this study, we utilized CiteSpace examine global seaweed landscape through Web Science Core Collection database, assessing publication trends, collaboration patterns, network structures, co-citation analyses across 48,278 original works published since 1975. Our results demonstrate diverse active community, with multitude authors journals contributing advancement science. Thematic cluster analysis identified three primary areas: "Coral reef," "Solar radiation," "Mycosporine-like amino acid," emphasizing multidisciplinary nature research. The increasing prominence "Chemical composition" "Antioxidant" keywords indicates burgeoning interest characterizing nutritional value health-promoting properties seaweed. Timeline unveils that priorities have emerged around themes coral reefs, ocean acidification, antioxidants, underlining evolving focus interdisciplinary approach field. Moreover, our highlights as functional food product, poised contribute significantly addressing security sustainability challenges. This study underscores importance bibliometric elucidating emphasizes sustained knowledge exchange drive field forward. By revealing key findings emerging offers valuable insights academics stakeholders, fostering more profound understanding seaweed's informing future endeavors promising domain.

ABSTRACT This research investigates the interplay between community engagement, psychological factors, and coral reef conservation in context of Bali's marine tourism bioeconomy. By examining drivers such as belief climate change, trust government initiatives, personal experiences with pollution, we show how these social factors shape responses participation conservation. Through use Importance‐Performance Analysis logistic regression models, identify critical that either promote or impede involvement protection efforts. Key indicators assessed included: implementation nurseries, protected areas, public education campaigns, responsible workshops, volunteer programs for cleaning, incentivized actions, local committees, stakeholder engagement sessions. The findings indicated effective management strategies must address not only ecological challenges but also socio‐economic realities. Integrating insights perspectives into efforts is shown to significantly bolster their effectiveness sustainability. study highlights need adaptive approaches are informed by both data feedback, aiming cultivate resilient ecosystems communities face global change.

Coral reefs have been declining worldwide due to multiple threats. Various approaches for coral restoration employed increase populations. Sexual propagation is a crucial technique that can enhance the genetic diversity of offspring, thereby increasing reef resilience in face changing environment. However, effectiveness using sexually reared corals transplantation depends on many factors, including biological traits and physical This study investigated relationship between Acropora humilis Symbiodiniaceae during ontogenetic stages ex - situ conditions after natural reef. sexual techniques were conducted produce experimental colonies. The fertilization rates gametes averaged 98.48 ± 0.34%. survival rate juvenile gradually declined 45.96 1.31% at 18 months old under hatchery 20% associated with lineages belonging three genera: Symbiodinium , Cladocopium Durusdinium . Reared developed more specific stable association particular conditions, whereas transplantation, tended contain higher lineages. These results indicate shift composition provide long-term benefits their cycle when environment changes.

The Florida Keys reef tract has rapidly shifted from a structurally complex, hard coral-dominated to less rugose, soft reef. This transition been facilitated by persistent anthropogenic stressors including recreational and commercial fishing increased marine debris. During the summers of 2020–2022, benthic censuses were conducted identify substrate debris composition for 30 reefs in middle Keys. Inshore contained higher rugosity, coral cover, abundance primarily comprised monofilament rope traps. Plastic items (e.g., ropes monofilament) overall had highest species diversity. Additionally, appears promote turf algae growth on inshore reefs. While is it not yet possible determine if this pattern high nearshore due proximity onshore sources, accumulation rugosity snagging debris, or removal efforts offshore, these differences types abundances suggest variability potential impacts biota versus offshore Therefore, differential use associated should be considered management practices.
