Pesticide application increased by about 1 million tonnes in the last 3 decades. Pesticides’ overuse, coupled with need for several pesticides to control different pests same crop, and its many times per year, results dangerous chemical cocktails that enter aquatic systems, impacts ecosystems communities. Climatic changes are currently another great concern, is predicted end of 21st century, earth’s surface temperature will increase 4ºC. Bivalve species reported as essential ecosystems’ balance. However, they also indicated organisms suffer most serious effects increase. So, this work intends to: a) verify harm sub-lethal concentrations two worldwide used pesticides, oxyfluorfen copper (Cu), when combined, Cerastoderma edule at 15ºC 20ºC; b) assess antioxidant defence system, activity neurological enzyme acetylcholinesterase nutritive value C. edule, after exposure Cu, single mixture, c) observe interaction between Cu oxyfluorfen, considering biomarkers. Bivalves were exposed 96 hours, 20ºC. Results showed lethal 20ºC highest binary mixtures concentrations. Biochemical observed on 15ºC, despite not observing any effects. Briefly, there was a oxidative stress decrease protein content, regardless enzymes. Suggesting potentially chemicals’ mixture combined temperature, consumers, impacting trophic chain, consequently, community structure function.

Invasive species threaten native biodiversity, potentially leading to a decline in endemic aquatic species. This, understanding their physiological responses and evaluating ecosystem impacts is crucial. The study investigates adaptive oxidative stress the invasive Sinanodonta woodiana Lake Candia (northwest Italy). This approach represents novel perspective environmental monitoring, utilizing gain insights into health potential ecological threats. investigation delved biomarkers, including superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione S-transferase, glyoxalase I, II, lactate dehydrogenase, mussel tissues (gills digestive gland). Concurrently, factors such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity were measured at four stations during summer. Environmental exhibited homogeneity across selected stations, with positive correlations observed only for temperature catalase I. A distinct pattern of response was consistently both throughout sampling period all monitoring more pronounced alterations one specific station. observation aligns IBRv2 scores, indicating station's highest impact. Gills transient severe response, while heightened antioxidant defenses glands suggested ability Chinese pond mussels disturbances. Proactive inclusion biomonitoring programs reduces reliance on populations, enhancing strategies controlling non-native protected areas like Candia.

Currently, there is increased chemical pollution, and climate change a major concern to scientific, political social communities globally. Marine systems are very susceptible changes, considering the ecological economic roles of bivalve species, like Cerastoderma edule, studies evaluating effects both stressors great importance. This study intends (a) determine toxicity copper (Cu) oxyfluorfen at lethal level, temperature; (b) assess changes in antioxidant defence enzymes as consequence simultaneous exposure warming pressures; (c) if lipid peroxidation (LPO) neurotoxic occur after temperature stressors. C. edule was exposed Cu different temperatures (15 °C, 20 °C 25 °C) for 96 h. The ecotoxicological results reveal higher tolerance than Cu, regardless temperature. system revealed efficiency fighting chemicals' action, with no significant thiobarbituric reactive species (TBARS) levels 15 °C. However, inhibition acetylcholinesterase (AChE) observed on organisms well decreasing trend ones this Moreover, catalase (CAT) showed increase two highest concentrations concentration Looking single stressor, TBARS suggesting potential LPO explaining mortality condition.

Electrolytic copper foil (elecfoil) is a thin with thickness less than 10 µm, which made through electrolysis of sulfate solution. It an essential component for the manufacture electric batteries. More specifically, it widely used to make cathode collectors in rechargeable lithium For coming years, expected demand elecfoil potentially very important. Therefore, there will be evident need new manufacturing plants foil. In relation this, as can happen any industrial facility, may pose potential environmental and health risks. These risks affect surrounding ecosystems, well population living vicinity facilities. Contamination air (particulate matter, SO2, NOx, VOCs), water (copper other heavy metals), soil (heavy metals harmful substances) issue notable concern. Mont-roig del Camp (Catalonia, Spain), currently planned. Considering social concern that this facility –the first one Spain- has raised area, current state-of-the-art on electrolytic here reviewed. The scientific databases Scopus, PubMed Google Scholar, information obtained from different sources (Internet) were used. available scarce, if any. Anyhow, minimize negative impacts plants, strict periodical controls, comprehensive management systems, relevant regulations are strongly required.
