fennel),
an
edible
xerophyte
of
coastal
habitats,
is
considered
emerging
cash
crop
for
biosaline
agriculture
due
to
its
salt-tolerance
ability
and
potential
applications
in
the
agri-food
sector.
Here,
nutritional
value
bioactive
properties
sea
fennel
are
described.
Sea
leaves,
flowers,
schizocarps
composed
carbohydrates
(>65%)
followed
by
ash,
proteins,
lipids.

salty,
succulent
leaves

source
omega-6
omega-3
polyunsaturated
fatty
acids,

is

halophytic
plant
rich

nutritional

well
investigated,

reports

the
volatiles
from
their
corresponding
hydrolates,
which

by-products
of
EO
isolation,
as
biological
activity.

Mediterranean
(Croatian,

ecotypes
were
investigated

was

Ancient
Egyptians
used
essential
oils’
antibacterial
and
antiseptic
effects
preserve
mummies,
ancient
Greeks
olive
oil
sun
protection,
Chinese
oils
treat
wounds.
When
applied

facial
skin,

anti-inflammatory,
antioxidant,
pharmacological
characteristics

various

skin-whitening,
