Inflammation plays a pivotal role in the resolution of infection or tissue damage. In addition, inflammation is considered hallmark aging, which turn compromises wound healing. Thymbra capitata an aromatic plant, whose infusion traditionally used as anti-inflammatory and wound-healing agent. this study, T. was prepared characterized by HPLC-PDA-ESI-MSn its safety profile determined resazurin metabolic assay. The potential revealed lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages assessing nitric oxide (NO) release levels inducible synthase (iNOS) interleukin-1β pro-form (pro-IL-1β). Wound-healing capacity using scratch activity senescence-associated β-galactosidase to unveil anti-senescent potential, along with nuclear accumulation yH2AX p21 levels. antiradical assessed DPPH ABTS scavenging assays. contains predominantly rosmarinic acid salvianolic acids. extract decreased NO, iNOS, pro-IL-1β Interestingly, promoted healing activity, well present work highlights strong antiradical, anti-inflammatory, capacities, corroborating traditional uses ascribed plant. We have described, for first time extract, properties.

Crithmum maritimum L. (sea fennel), an edible xerophyte of coastal habitats, is considered emerging cash crop for biosaline agriculture due to its salt-tolerance ability and potential applications in the agri-food sector. Here, nutritional value bioactive properties sea fennel are described. Sea leaves, flowers, schizocarps composed carbohydrates (>65%) followed by ash, proteins, lipids. fennel’s salty, succulent leaves a source omega-6 omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially linoleic acid. Extracts obtained from flowers fruits/schizocarps rich antioxidants polyphenols show antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, epidermis, Candida albicans, parapsilosis. Plant material particularly sodium (Na) but also other nutritionally relevant minerals, such as calcium (Ca), chlorine (Cl), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), beyond presenting prebiotic effect on Lactobacillus bulgaricus being nontoxic human intestinal epithelial Caco-2 model cells, up 1.0% (w/v). Hence, rational use can bring nutrients, aroma, flavor culinary dishes while balancing microbiomes contributing expanding shelf life food products.

Sea fennel is a halophytic plant rich in valuable nutritional components and characterized by pleasant organoleptic properties. While its essential oils (EOs) are well investigated, there no reports on the volatiles from their corresponding hydrolates, which main by-products of EO isolation, as biological activity. Therefore, composition activities EOs hydrolates sea Atlantic (French, FRA) Mediterranean (Croatian, CRO) ecotypes were investigated compared. The CRO sample was an abundance sabinene limonene, while that FRA ecotype dillapiol carvacryl methyl ether. hydrolate terpinen-4-ol 10-(acetylmethyl)-3-carene, dillapiol, thymyl ether γ-terpinene compounds hydrolate. evaluated for antioxidant (with DPPH, NO, FRAP ORAC bioassays), antimicrobial (against some Gram+ Gram- spoilage bacteria) antiageing (tyrosinase, elastase collagenase inhibition) activities. Both showed low reducing powers antiradical ability both to quench NO slightly higher (35–39% if inhibition). activity against Staphylococcus aureus (8 mm), moderately inhibited growth P. aeruginosa but strongly other two bacterial strains. French antityrosinase anticollagenase activity, Croatian oil significantly enzymes (IC50 650 µg/mL IC50 2570 µg/mL, respectively) probably due dominance limonene sabinene. Neither exhibited antielastase properties, regardless enzyme tested. aerial parts differed greatly composition, resulting different samples appeared have better properties therefore good candidates applications preservatives or agents.

Background Essential oils, often referred to as “liquid gold,” are renowned for their broad biological activity. Ancient Egyptians used essential oils’ antibacterial and antiseptic effects preserve mummies, ancient Greeks olive oil sun protection, Chinese oils treat wounds. When applied the facial skin, potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, pharmacological characteristics provide various benefits, including sunscreen, skin-whitening, anti-aging effects. Purpose This paper aims summarize application of plant in skin whitening, antioxidant recent years, deeply analyzes internal relationship between modern drug delivery system, expounds how overcome limitations through specific enhance its activity stability, realize sustained release reduce potential toxicity, also discusses positive on brain function olfactory pathway, emphasizes possible safety risks use oil, puts forward corresponding suggestions use. Methods Using keywords such “essential oils,” “antioxidant,” “anti-tyrosinase,” Antibacterial Effects anti-inflammatory,” “anti-anxiety,” “drug carrier systems,” a comprehensive search was conducted PubMed, CNKI, Baidu, Wanfang databases articles from past 5 years. Further screening performed select studies demonstrating efficacy topical or external application. Results Various showed strong oxidants, agents, anti-inflammatory skin-whitening agents. Combined with new it not only enhances but reduces inherent defects volatility, irritation, has targeted effect. At same time, integration into care products can make dual functions smell epidermal system nourish repair maximize oil. Conclusion review delves systems, advocating broader natural resources technology. By strategically utilizing we promote sustainable development global economy. However, extensive clinical trials still required evaluate effectiveness systems.

Sea fennel is a minor crop of emerging socioeconomic importance in the Mediterranean region. Despite its potential, there has been no assessment environmental impacts to support perceived sustainability for broader promotion. Using life cycle (LCA), we evaluated performance sea production an open field. A cradle-to-farm gate was conducted using functional unit (FU) 1 kg fresh at farm gate. The system boundaries encompassed nursery, cultivation, and waste management phases. Primary data collected from farms Marche region Italy. were assessed Environmental Footprint (EF) 3.0 midpoint impact method. From results, primary hotspot input plastic mulch, with relative contribution over 50% across most categories. Increasing recycling rate 30% 70% substantially improved fennels, reiterating need further investment recycling. This study provides insights into production. Findings demonstrate that cultivation offers promising path toward sustainable biomass production, underscoring prospects commercial exploitation.

Sea fennel (Crithmum maritimum L.) leaves and flowers from Italian wild cultivated populations were herein investigated for their content of carotenoids tocopherols using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with the photodiode array fluorimeter detectors to assess functional value. Moreover, aqueous extracts prepared explore in vitro bioactivities never tested this halophyte herb. Thus, chlorogenic acid-enriched sea evaluated major bioactive compounds, antioxidant potential, pancreatic lipase, carbohydrate hydrolase inhibitors. Neoxanthin, violaxanthin, lutein, zeaxanthin, β-carotene, α- γ-tocopherols identified. C. can be considered a high source vitamin A, E up 19.1, 1.85 52.81 mg/100 g dried leaves, respectively. Despite low TPC content, promising ABTS+. radical scavenging activity (CON-L-WT, IC50 value 3.83 μg/mL) highest FRAP observed extract Conero Park Marche Region. The water Sicilian was most active against lipase. evidence suggests that might potentially used formulation nutraceuticals prevention diseases associated oxidative stress hyperglycemic conditions.
