The diffusion of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and advanced visualization technologies in the increasingly digitalised construction sector is fostering development implementation disruptive approaches for workforce Health Safety (H&S) training. Project-specific risks, safety procedures information can be administered through immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experiences where site environments activities are reproduced without exposing trainees to real hazards. However, despite numerous research industry applications demonstrating potential benefits these technologies, a standardized framework methodology evaluation VR training effectiveness workers still lacking hence hindering its large scale-adoption recognition from policymakers. Within scope previous authors contributions on BIM-based workers’ training, this paper aims address their proposing novel semi-qualitative approach based integration trainees’ subjective objective data. A post-experience questionnaire developed collect direct qualitative feedback about experience immersivity perceived content transfer. Furthermore, with spatial tracking data proposed complement quantitative use virtual space purposes. application presented case study currently undergoing related results will subject future

Construction sector spending makes a significant contribution to the global economy, with approximately $10 trillion being spent on building and construction activities annually. However, industry has traditionally been perceived as slow adapt new technologies compared other sectors. Recently, experienced substantial shift towards Digital Transformation. As have emerged, begun realize importance of Transformation in pre-construction, construction, facility management phases. A high degree seen regarding site monitoring, wearables, sensors, identifying hazards. This paper intends sketch picture digital implemented throughout entire project lifecycle. By fully analyzing more than 200 papers, finds that various aspects industry, including technologies, policies, regulations, infrastructures, are still early stages The findings from this review will help researchers practitioners understand technology implementation where stands process. also serves starting point for future work industry. research is limited vertical projects does not include horizontal integration. Finally, study give guideline successful examples which used specific phases, so can get holistic view use environment.

Virtual reality (VR) is one of the most innovative technologies that allows development a computerised, three-dimensional image imitates reality. With this solution, it possible to show different objects and even simulate sequence actions. The application virtual technology in industries with high accident rates, such as mining construction, contributes sustainability by enhancing occupational health safety (OHS) practices. However, should be emphasised VR these much broader includes aspects visualisation, monitoring design. This research identifying gaps, providing an in-depth systematic review use outlining potential advance practices thereby promoting well-being workers, reducing accidents minimising negative environmental impacts associated workplace incidents. Based on analyses performed, future for improving work processes terms safety, efficiency profitability implementation outlined. results study provide comprehensive framework gaps area academic community improve construction workplaces.

As modern information technology advances and equipment devices update, extended reality (XR) technologies, including virtual (VR), augmented (AR), virtuality (AV) have witnessed an increasing use application in construction training. This review aims to comprehensively examine the evolution of XR training domain. To achieve this, a systematic literature 74 journal papers from Scopus database was conducted. paper outlines progression 2009 2023, detailing related technologies like development platforms, display devices, input devices. The reveals that spans five main areas: (1) safety management, (2) skill/knowledge acquisition, (3) operation, (4) human–computer collaboration, (5) ergonomics/postural Additionally, this explores impact trainee roles on outcomes identifies challenges faced by applications. findings are hoped assist researchers engineering trainers understanding latest advancements XR, thereby providing valuable insights for future research.

The construction industry has a high accident rate, making safety training for workers increasingly important in addressing this issue. Previous research on made significant progress, but existing literature reviews lack comprehensive summary of the development training, an evaluation effectiveness current methods, and analysis potential improvements future. Therefore, study addresses these challenges through systematic review, scientometric analysis, meta-analysis. A total 92 publications since 2001 were included after searching selection based preferred reporting items commonly used psychological medical meta-analyses. This identified three phases research: determination necessity significance exploration different methods tools using advanced technologies. Findings from revealed that prevention hazard recognition are key topics field. Critical findings summarized discussed to have understanding progress. results meta-analysis indicated generally effective improving safety, though field studies is lower than laboratory studies. Thus, researchers should understand why performance between laboratories sites then control differences enhance personalized foreseeable trend suggested more efforts improvement long-term effectiveness. Additionally, be revised optimized needs intelligent prefabricated construction. These offer new insights into policymakers.
