Background: Dry eye disease (DED) is a chronic condition characterized by decrease in tear production or an increase evaporation, leading to inflammation and damage of the ocular surface. Dysfunction ion channels, hyperosmolarity immune cell-driven create vicious circle responsible for pathological changes eyes DED patients. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are adult, rapidly proliferating that produce large number immunoregulatory, angiomodulatory, growth factors efficiently reduce hyperosmolarity-induced changes, inhibit harmful response, provide trophic support injured corneal conjuctival epithelial cells, goblet acinar lacrimal glands Methods: An extensive research literature was implemented order elucidate role MSCs attenuation patients suffering from DED. Results: Findings obtained preclinical pilot clinical studies demonstrated reduced hyperomsolaity-induced suppressed inflammation. Additionally, MSC-based therapy managed successfully address most severe DED-related conditions complications. Conclusions: should be considered as potentially new therapeutic agents treatment
