Several studies report that breast cancer survivors (BCS) tend to have a poor diet, as fruit, vegetable, and legume consumption is often reduced, resulting in decreased intake of nutraceuticals. Moreover, weight gain has been commonly described among BCS during treatment, increasing recurrence rate mortality. Improving lifestyle nutrition after the diagnosis BC may important benefits on patients’ general health specific clinical outcomes. The Mediterranean diet (MD), known for its multiple beneficial effects health, can be considered nutritional pool comprising several nutraceuticals: bioactive compounds foods with anti-inflammatory antioxidant effects. Recent scientific advances led identification nutraceuticals could amplify MD favorably influence gene expression these patients. Nutraceuticals postdiagnostic phase BC, including helping mitigate adverse chemotherapy radiotherapy. valid easy-to-follow option managing excess weight. aim this narrative review evaluate recent literature possible consuming functional nutraceutical framework BCS.

Taste disorders are common among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, with a prevalence ranging from 20% to 86%, persisting throughout treatment. This condition leads reduced food consumption, increasing the risk of malnutrition. Malnutrition is associated not only worse treatment efficacy and poor disease prognosis but also functional status quality life. The fruit Synsepalum dulcificum (Daniell), commonly known as miracle berry or fruit, contains miraculin, taste-modifying protein profound effects on taste perception. CLINMIR Protocol triple-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial designed evaluate regular consumption supplement containing miraculin-based novel food, dried (DMB), perception (measured through electrogustometry) nutritional (evaluated GLIM Criteria) malnourished under active antineoplastic To this end, pilot study was 30 randomized divided into three arms (150 mg DMB + 150 freeze-dried strawberries, 300 DMB, placebo) for months. Throughout five main visits, an exhaustive assessment different parameters susceptible improvement will be conducted, including electrical chemical perception, smell morphofunctional assessment, diet, life, fatty acid profile erythrocytes, levels inflammatory cancer-associated cytokines, oxidative stress, antioxidant defense system, plasma metabolomics, saliva stool microbiota. primary anticipated result that distortion who consume report in translates increased intake, thereby ameliorating their mitigating risks. Additionally, aims pinpoint optimal dosage provides maximal benefits. protocol adheres SPIRIT 2013 Statement, which evidence-based recommendations widely endorsed international standard protocols. has been registered at platform Clinical Trials (NCT05486260).

Abstract The gut microbiota has been demonstrated to be correlated with the clinical phenotypes of diseases, including cancers. However, there are few studies on subtyping based microbiota, especially in breast cancer (BC) patients. Here, using machine learning methods, we analysed BC, colorectal (CRC), and gastric (GC) patients identify their shared metabolic pathways importance these development. Based microbiota-related pathways, human gene expression profile patient prognosis, established a novel BC system identified subtype called “challenging BC”. Tumours this have more genetic mutations complex immune environment than those other subtypes. A score index was proposed for in-depth analysis showed significant negative correlation prognosis. Notably, activation TPK1-FOXP3-mediated Hedgehog signalling pathway TPK1-ITGAE-mediated mTOR linked poor prognosis BC” high scores, as validated patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model. Furthermore, our effective predictors response current neoadjuvant therapy regimens, significantly negatively both treatment efficacy number cells. Therefore, findings provide valuable insights into predicting molecular characteristics responses

Background The relationship between gut microbiota and breast cancer has been extensively studied; however, changes in after surgery are still largely unknown. Materials methods A total of 20 patients with underwent routine open at the First Affiliated Hospital Hainan Medical College from 1 June 2022 to December 2022. Stool samples were collected undergoing mastectomy for preoperatively, 3 days later, 7 later postoperatively. stool subjected 16s rRNA sequencing. Results Surgery did not affect α-diversity microbiota. β-diversity composition microorganisms significantly affected by patients. Both linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) between-group differences showed that led a decrease abundance Firmicutes Lachnospiraceae an increase Proteobacteria Enterobacteriaceae . Moreover, 127 differential metabolites screened classified into 5 categories based on their changing trends. Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes (KEGG) enrichment significant phenylalanine metabolic pathway exogenous substance pathway. Eight characterized using ROC analysis. Conclusion Our study found altered metabolites, beneficial bacteria potentially harmful bacteria. This underscores importance enhanced postoperative management optimize
