Abstract Astrogliosis is a condition shared by acute and chronic neurological diseases includes morphological, proteomic, functional rearrangements of astroglia. In Alzheimer's disease (AD), reactive astrocytes frame amyloid deposits exhibit structural changes associated with the overexpression specific proteins, mostly belonging to intermediate filaments. At level, beta triggers dysfunctional calcium signaling in astrocytes, which contributes maintenance neuroinflammation. Therefore, identification intracellular players that participate astrocyte can help unveil mechanisms underlying reactivity loss function AD. We have recently identified calcium‐binding protein centrin‐2 (CETN2) as novel marker human brain and, order determine whether astrocytic CETN2 expression distribution could be affected neurodegenerative conditions, we examined its pattern control sporadic AD patients. By immunoblot, immunohistochemistry, targeted‐mass spectrometry, report positive correlation between entorhinal immunoreactivity neurocognitive impairment, along abundance depositions neurofibrillary tangles, thus highlighting linear relationship progression. CETN2‐positive were dispersed cortex clustered colocalized glia markers STAT3, NFATc3, YKL‐40, indicating human‐specific role AD‐induced astrogliosis. Collectively, our data provide first evidence part toolkit undergoing adds list proteins play evolution.
