Studies suggest that religion is a protective factor for substance misuse and mental health concerns among Black/African American youth despite reported declines in their religious involvement. However, few studies have investigated the associations religion, misuse, Black youth. Informed by Critical Race Theory, we evaluated correlations between gender, depression, unprotected sex on health. Using multiple linear regression, assessed self-reported measures of drug use sex, condom use, belief God, religiosity sample (N = 638) living large midwestern city. Results indicated while drugs alcohol, were significant positively associated with symptoms. Belief God was negatively having alcohol. The study’s findings many structural inequalities face, continues to be against myriad prevalent problem behaviors.
