Simulation-Based Learning (SBL) in education has demonstrated significant potential preparing participants to effectively address future challenges a dynamic and ever-changing world. Empathy, as multidimensional skill, is fundamental successfully navigate these complex situations. This study aims assess the effectiveness of SBL enhancing student teachers’ awareness understanding empathy’s multifaceted nature. Using quasi-experimental design, 232 students participated courses that integrated empathy instruction with simulation workshop experiences. The used rubric based on Empathetic Patterns Interpersonal Communication (EPIC) model, developed validated by authors prior studies, identify empathic patterns two videotaped simulations shown them at beginning end course. same task was completed seven content experts psychology, well six experienced instructors serving clinical experts. Additionally, responded open-ended questions suggesting various expressions empathy. results indicated workshops, when into teaching framework addresses analyzed through structured rubric, can serve an effective platform for students’ ability understand patterns.

The aim of this study is to examine how online pre-service teachers enact and analyse core teaching practices during simulation training the debriefing that followed. data consists video-recordings in which fifteen either practiced a mixed reality (TeachLivE™) or served as peer observers. This was followed by session. By conducting interaction analysis two tasks sessions, found including debriefing, facilitates enactment critical analyses various such creating productive learning environment, strategically redirecting off-task behaviour. Additionally, findings show importance interactor's situ role he interjects avatar pupils. interactor central highlighting classroom management instructional challenges require appropriate decision-making professional action from real-time. provides insights into potential simulations for supporting both teacher education.

Mixed-reality simulation (MRS) is a new and advanced technology implemented in Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) across the United States. However, more research needed on effectiveness of MRS EPPs its impact beginning teacher candidates. This study sought to determine effect candidates after utilizing acquiring teaching pedagogical skills. Forty-five surveys collected from revealed two themes: beneficial experience an EPP concerns.

The reading literacy crisis, among learners, in countries throughout the world and South Africa seems to be reaching pandemic levels. Hence, quality of teaching preparation that pre-service teachers receive at initial teacher education institutions is under spotlight. A proactive action research design used integrate mixed reality simulation into modules. Our data collection methods included professional conversations, WhatsApp voice notes video calls, reflective journal entries reflections on observing recordings lesson segments MRS environment. was analyzed using content analysis. main themes emanating from included: lack focus high leverage practices, limited use pedagogies enactment, add-on existing content, experimentation, perceptions, planning preparation, content-method integration, assessment, resources feedback. Grounded a Community Practice framework, we narrate our experiences re-imagining as core component programs. authors conclude by sharing insights recommendations for policymakers, faculty leaders, curriculum designers, contributing informed decisions regarding integrating potentially upscaling within modules
