Abstract This work-in-progress paper explores faculty perspectives regarding student use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) assistance tools, such as ChatGPT, to complete engineering coursework. A common debate in and computer science exists about how should address GAI tools (i.e., prevent their usage order maintain academic integrity, teach students the new technologies, or establish regulatory guidelines higher education). While continues disrupt traditional educational paradigms, its full impacts on teaching learning are currently unknown. Such work is especially useful for fields science, whose lies at forefront technological advancement more readily adopt technologies into course tasks. discusses preliminary findings an intrinsic qualitative case study that answers research question: How do perceive undergraduate completion? Data were collected using semi-structured interviews with faculty, including civil, mechanical, electrical, biological science. As a result, this lays groundwork extensive domain contributes broader discourse role emerging shaping future education.

Background/Objectives: The evolution of digital technology enhances the broadening a person's intellectual growth. Research points out that implementing innovative applications world improves human social, cognitive, and metacognitive behavior. Artificial intelligence chatbots are yet another human-made construct. These forms software simulate conversation, understand process user input, provide personalized responses. Executive function includes set higher mental processes necessary for formulating, planning, achieving goal. present study aims to investigate executive reinforcement through artificial chatbots, outlining potentials, limitations, future research suggestions. Specifically, examined three questions: use conversational in functioning training, their impact on executive-cognitive skills, duration any improvements. Methods: assessment existing literature was implemented using systematic review method, according PRISMA 2020 Principles. avalanche search method employed conduct source following databases: Scopus, Web Science, PubMed, complementary Google Scholar. This included studies from 2021 experimental, observational, or mixed methods. It AI-based conversationalists support functions, such as anxiety, stress, depression, memory, attention, cognitive load, behavioral changes. In addition, this general populations with specific neurological conditions, all peer-reviewed, written English, full-text access. However, excluded before 2021, reviews, non-AI-based conversationalists, not targeting range skills abilities, without open criteria aligned objectives, ensuring focus AI agents function. initial collection totaled n = 115 articles; however, eligibility requirements led final selection 10 studies. Results: findings suggested positive effects enhance improve skills. Although, several limitations were identified, making it still difficult generalize reproduce effects. Conclusions: an tool can assistant learning expanding contributing metacognitive, social development individual. its training is at primary stage. highlighted need unified framework reference studies, better designs, diverse populations, larger sample sizes participants, longitudinal observe long-term use.

Abstract In this paper, we initially investigate the capabilities of GPT-3 5 and GPT-4 in solving college-level calculus problems, an essential segment mathematics that remains under-explored so far. Although improving upon earlier versions, attains approximately 65% accuracy for standard problems decreases to 20% competition-like scenarios. Overall, models prove be unreliable due common arithmetic errors. Our primary contribution lies then examining use ChatGPT grading solutions exercises. objectives are probe in-context learning task with less emphasis over direct calculations; recognize positive applications educational contexts; highlight a potentially emerging facet AI could necessitate oversight; introduce unconventional benchmarks, which like GPT untrained. Pertaining latter, uncover tendency loss coherence extended contexts. findings suggest while current exhibits comprehension often provides relevant outputs, consistency is marred by occasional hallucinations. Intriguingly, GPT-4's overall scores, delivered mere moments, align closely human graders, although its detailed suboptimal. This work suggests that, when appropriately orchestrated, collaboration between graders LLMs might combine their unique strengths mitigating respective shortcomings direction, it imperative consider implementing transparency, fairness, appropriate regulations near future.
