Food waste (FW) has become a global concern, with an estimated 1.3 billion tonnes lost annually, costing about $1 trillion. Environmental and social consequences of FW are significant, contributing to 6% European Unions' greenhouse gasemissions affecting food security. occurs is complex issue occurring at various stages the supply chain (FSC) influenced by multiple factors such as infrastructure, available knowledge socio-economic conditions. Developed countries more prevalent consumption stage, whereas in developing losses occur agricultural production, post-harvest distribution stage. Accurate quantification across crucial monitoring key performance indicators helps identify areas for improvement. The Union mandates measurement, aligning sustainable development goals, emphasizing need effective prevention measures. Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses approach was utilized conduct systematic literature review on (KPIs) tools. research identified 22 KPIs, categorized into three levels FSC: primary, secondary tertiary. most common KPIs included per capita, portion percentage. study further discusses measures essential tools addressing throughout chain.

Purpose The hotel industry is one of the leading producers waste worldwide, and more than one-third that food. purpose this study to investigate managers' awareness sustainable circular practices, with a focus on their attitude toward perception food in Apulia, Southern Italy. region has tourist vocation, accounts for 3.3 million tourists per year plays key role Italian tourism. Design/methodology/approach was conducted using questionnaire administered ten managers located Apulia. In light Checkup Tool Speditivo, sustainability score indicates circularity, distinguishing between “beginner” (0–25 points), “concerned” (26–50 “proactivist” (51–75 points) “sustainable” (76–100 points). results have been analyzed descriptive statistic tools. Findings average indicating level practices among Apulia 84, whereas associated management strategies 65. greater number stars, higher scores. However, rooms, lower strategies. Originality/value sheds main opportunities, barriers trends field management, highlighting commodities which are wasted most proposing further improve circularity hotels. To best authors' knowledge, first such topics Italy could represent basis future research topic.

Abstract This paper investigates whether and to what extent circular economy performance affects the financial of a global sample listed agri‐food firms. Furthermore, potential moderating role stakeholder engagement in empowering this relationship has been tested. A index developed based on Environmental Social Governance scores reclassified light reuse, reduce, recovery recycling (4R) paradigm. Then, multivariate regression model from 2015 2022 carried out. broader theoretical framework adopted, combining natural resource‐based view theory. The results show positive between performance, boosting function played by engagement. study findings provide stimuli for academics managers reflect profitability pivotal giving significant impulse transition.

The existing Circular Economy (CE) assessment frameworks developed in the construction context are limited due to being confined assessing one or a few aspects of project building and lacking holistic perspective. In industry, main contractor organisations play significant role by involving several phases directly engaging with multiple stakeholders while handling complex supply chain processes. Therefore, CE significantly impacts implementation, improvement, monitoring industry. Hence, this research aimed identify indicators specific covering organisation levels develop comprehensive framework through Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following Preferred Reporting Items for Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. Two SLRs were conducted achieve aim study, as majority construction-specific articles project-level indicators, second review was undertaken organisation-level from non-construction sources. study identified eighteen twenty at organisation-level, respectively. Sixteen found be common both levels, two projects four organisations. concluded that is complex, necessitating approach addresses organisational their interdependence indispensable obtaining

Perception and awareness can affect behaviour decision-making, for example, how companies implement Circular Economy (CE) practices. However, there is limited empirical research about this topic. Thus, we investigated the perception of representatives from water-intensive bio-based sectors regarding CE concept based on interviews a survey with 10 in Sweden. Our results indicate that understood mainly as zero waste its key principles are resource efficiency ecodesign. Missing (or partially addressed) important elements consumption, social aspects, regenerative role CE, collaboration, Industrial Symbiosis. Moving to a circular economy (CE) is crucial for achieving sustainability. However, many industries face challenges make the transition. Industries function as complex systems, encompassing multiple business ecosystems (BEs) influenced by myriad of market forces. Due absence single point control, evolution and their BEs can follow various paths. If transitioning CE desired outcome, understanding guidelines restrictions - or 'rules' that facilitate emergence within essential. This research therefore investigates transition in chemicals manufacturing industry through lens BEs, system theory, orchestration theory. A two-stage instrumental case study was conducted, beginning with focus group discussions involving broad spectrum stakeholders chemical industry, followed analysis specific laundry detergent BE. Our findings deepen CE, especially unveiling seven rules govern These emphasise importance motivations, challenges, cross-sector collaborations, BE orchestration. Furthermore, our highlights consumers' readiness value propositions pressing need both private governmental investment scale up. Additionally, shed light on potential synergies between highly carbon-intensive realm CE. Despite complexity managing such intricate relationships, it argued fair distribution gains burdens sustain long run, which ultimately contributes reducing carbon emissions mitigating climate change.

Data acquisition to measure circularity in processes and organization represents a challenge, due non-homogeneous quantification methods different definitions related resources consumption waste generation. This study endeavored to analyze the progress made meet Sustainable Development Goals in terms of resource use, sustainable production and consumption, triple planetary crisis (i.e., climate change, biodiversity loss, pollutant emissions) at national regional levels Asia. The highlighted that toward consumption is still not sufficient ambitious targets. An urgent need for a comprehensive approach address emissions, use has been ascertained. China’s greenhouse gas emissions have surged tremendously. India also endeavoring decouple from growth via renewable energy. Vulnerable Pakistan seeks emission reduction financial aid. Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam outline strategies. Land change emerges as key loss driver, stressing land policies conservation. Material highlights call optimization, circular economies, innovative technology. Energy’s role development requires decoupling through efficiency, renewables, eco-friendly paths. Freshwater needs careful management sustainability, international collaboration policy reform are urged global water efficiency. Decoupling trends between growth, environmental impact show complex pattern, with feasibility absolute limited by interdependence.
