Although an increasing amount of attention is being paid to how human activities alter plant communities, little known about the consequences these changes on species’ assemblages and biodiversity patterns. Using three forest types (a Pinus yunnanensis man-made forest; Eucalyptus smithii natural secondary forest) in mid-Yunnan, China, we investigated distribution patterns species traits analyzed diversity relationships, including those between diversity, functional soil microbial diversity. We found that co-occurrence were non-random. Abstract The global increase in the use of forest plantations is one solutions to meet demand for wood and its derivative products. Among various tree species, Eucalyptus a popular choice due fast growth high productivity. However, has also generated controversy regarding impact on local economies ecology. This study analyses economic ecological impacts plantations, widely adopted their significant timber production. research evaluates both benefits, such as increased income job creation, negative effects, including soil degradation, decreased biodiversity, water cycle disruptions. used literature review, analysing 28 articles 4 books from countries between 2016 2024. results highlight dual plantations: while they significantly contribute economies, pose risks environmental sustainability. discussion emphasizes importance adopting sustainable forestry practices, agroforestry, balance these impacts. concludes with recommendations policy frameworks that integrate conservation strategies optimize benefits without compromising integrity.

Duolun County in Inner Mongolia, a typical agro-pastoral ecotone, serves as an important ecological barrier northern China. To combat windblown sand and land degradation, the government has established extensive P. sylvestris var. mongolica Litv. plantations. This study investigated effects of three afforestation modes (2 m × 6 m, 2 3 1 m), which were used treatments, unafforested bare sandy control, on soil physicochemical properties fertility. The results showed that row spacing significantly affected characteristics With increase plant spacing, content coarse particles decreased, while fine particle content, water nutrient levels, porosity increased. Additionally, bulk density particularly topsoil. However, planting increased soil’s electrical conductivity, declined with wider spacing. Soil fertility different types plantation forests was evaluated using quality index (SQI) grey relation analysis (GRA) combined minimum dataset (MDS), that: > land. two evaluation systems consistent their TDS (total dataset) MDS positively correlated (SQI: P < 0.05, R = 0.9384). Indonesia's tropical forest management faces several challenges owing to the growing demand for resources and increasing population. The forestry sector plays a significant role in supporting food security programs by harnessing potential of resources. One solution sustainable optimal land use is agroforestry techniques. Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea) tolerant heavy shade promising functional crop that can contribute programs. Starch content arrowroot tuber an important meeting nutritional requirements overcoming health problems. tubers also contain phenolic compounds, largest group compounds act as natural antioxidants plants. This study aimed analyze total starch contents cultivated systems. We used Randomized Complete Block Design with planting pattern treatment species combinations Falcataria moluccana + (FA), F. Amomum cardamomum (FAC), monoculture (MA) three blocks/replications. were harvested from nine-month-old plants composite samples representing each analyzed contents. was determined using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent. measured Modified Somogyi method, which involves preparing reagents, followed hydrolysis reducing sugar determination methods. results revealed significantly affected content. highest observed MA 23.99%, FAC FA patterns 22.75% 18.44%, respectively. did not affect MA, FAC, yielded lowest 218.02, 212.62, 210.04 µg/g, Furthermore, yield per plant, value 214.48 mg pattern. Thus, practices maintain tubers. development system will be prospective only demand, but multi-business social achieve management.

Teak ( Tectona grandis ) is one of the most widely established plantation species globally due to its potential for degraded forest restoration, timber supplementation, and easing pressure on natural resources. However, extent which plant‐soil interactions in teak plantations impact tree growth productivity soil nutrient dynamics not well understood. This study assessed physicochemical properties as influence fertility growth. The was conducted aged 5, 10, 15, 20, over 20 years an adjacent remnant. We three 25 m × plots each recorded diameter at breast height (DBH), height, crown length, depth all trees. collected 54 samples 0–20 cm analysed them 29 parameters. revealed that resulted a decline N (45%–81%) available P (63%–98%) concentration, while pH improved by 0.41–0.64 units. organic carbon, K, Mg, Ca, Na concentrations their ratios were unaffected with time. Also, textural characteristics, acidity, observed tree‐related characteristics such DBH dimensions (crown, diameter, breadth, volume).
