This perspective paper introduces a novel framework for container orchestration called CODECO. The CODECO relies on data-network-computing approach to define the best infrastructure that can support operation of next-generation Internet applications across mobile, heterogeneous Edge-Cloud continuum. selection such an is aligned with target performance profiles defined by user, as resilience or greenness. proposes rely decentralized Artificial Intelligence approaches in attempt provide most suitable application deployment, considering infrastructural challenges, intermittent connectivity and node failure. explains current provides insight into operational use-cases where being deployed, relevant examples framework. Abstract Despite the widespread adoption of Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks (RPL) in IoT environments, its inherent limitations addressing security vulnerabilities have left networks vulnerable to ongoing attacks. This paper introduces a novel intrusion detection system tailored specifically networks, with focus on mitigating attacks at network’s edge. The study presents Hybrid Rank Attack (HRA), sophisticated threat exploiting RPL by alternately advertising decreased increased rank values control messages. Extensive experimentation evaluates detrimental effects HRA critical network metrics including exchanged messages, energy consumption, PDR, latency, memory footprint. Additionally, lightweight distributed countermeasure algorithm is proposed effectively mitigate impact HRA. Simulation-based evaluations demonstrate significant reductions overhead (68.7%) consumption (61.83%), minimal additional RAM utilization (1.05%). solution enhances resilience RPL-based against threats.
