Obesity in adolescence is associated with cognitive changes that lead to difficulties shifting unhealthy habits favour of alternative healthy behaviours, similar addictive behaviours. An outstanding question whether this shift goal-directed behaviour driven by over-exploitation or over-exploration rewarding outcomes. Here, we addressed comparing explore/exploit on the Iowa Gambling Task 43 adolescents excess weight against 38 weight. We computationally modelled both exploitation (e.g., reinforcement sensitivity and inverse decay parameters), explorative maximum directed exploration value). found overall, displayed more behavioural than their healthy-weight counterparts - specifically, demonstrating greater overall switching behaviour. Computational models revealed was a higher value excess-weight group (U = 520.00, p .005, BF10 5.11). Importantly, however, substantial evidence groups did not differ 867.00, .641, 0.30). Overall, our study demonstrates preference for exploratory weight, independent reward. This pattern could potentially underpin an intrinsic desire explore energy-dense foods as-yet untapped mechanism be targeted future treatments obesity adolescents.

Psychological stressors frequently occur in modern society, and are associated with general anhedonic traits (inability to experience pleasure) altered eating behavior. As behavior is largely motivated by a desire for pleasure, the Food Pleasure Scale (FPS) was introduced as new research tool investigating aspects of pleasure from food-related experiences. Thereby, insights on whether some more affected stress than others can be investigated, help explain why changes seen when under influence stress. A consumer survey including n = 190 Danish consumers all moderate or high levels perceived conducted explore perception food, appetite, meal patterns, well specific food preferences. The study showed that majority found sensory modalities 'comforting' pleasure. Furthermore, moderately stressed respondents had fewer main meals post-dinner snacks night meals, compared before falling ill, whereas highly group signs losing appetite altogether. present contributes our understanding how common condition, such chronic stress, affect individual, public, health.

The development of scales and questionnaires to assess pleasure perception has gained prominence, particularly for evaluating anhedonia in mental disorders. Food Pleasure Scale is a comprehensive tool exclusively dedicated measuring from food food-related experiences. This study aimed evaluate the face validity consistency reliability using mixed methods approach. Twenty-two participants completed questionnaire participated in-depth interviews understand their interpretation scale items. interview data underwent thematic analysis, quantitative survey was compared qualitative responses. Results indicated high level understanding all items Scale, confirming its applicability. approach supported reliability, showing between measures participants’ explicit implicit expressions pleasure. Furthermore, revealed novel aspect related pleasure: concept “making an effort”. Overall, this highlights comprehensibility, validity, potential consumer studies. It effectively captures subjective experience derived encounters, making it valuable further research domain.

The cornerstone in the management of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is lifestyle modification including a healthy diet, typically one which carbohydrate provides 45%-60% total energy intake (E%). Nevertheless, systematic reviews and meta-analyses trials with low diets (which are increased protein and/or fat) for T2D have found improved glycaemic control first months relative to comparator higher content. Studies lasting ≥1 year inconclusive, could be due decreased long-term dietary adherence. We hypothesise that glucometabolic benefits can achieved following 12 carbohydrate-restricted dieting, by maximising adherence through delivery meal kits, containing fresh, high-quality ingredients breakfast, dinner snacks, combined nutrition education counselling.
