Dietary modifications to overcome infertility have attracted attention; however, scientifically substantiated information on specific dietary components affecting fertility and their mechanisms is limited. Herein, we investigated diet-induced, reversible in female mice lacking the heterodimer of ATP-binding cassette transporters G5 G8 (ABCG5/G8), which functions as a lipid exporter intestine. We found that phytosterols, especially β-sitosterol brassicasterol, are substrates ABCG5/G8, potent but reproductive toxicities mice. Mechanistically, these phytosterols inhibited ovarian folliculogenesis reduced egg quality by enhancing polycomb repressive complex 2-mediated histone H3 trimethylation at lysine 27 ovary. Clinical analyses showed serum phytosterol levels were significantly negatively correlated with blastocyst development rate fertilized eggs women undergoing vitro fertilization, suggesting affect both humans Thus, avoiding excessive intake certain would be beneficial for health. In mouse ovary, shown inhibit reduce PRC2-mediated trimethylation.

Sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis L.), an oilseed native to the Peruvian rainforest, has garnered attention for its valuable components and potential applications in food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical industries. oil is rich fatty acids, particularly omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, along with antioxidants such as tocopherols, which collectively contribute cardiovascular health, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, neuroprotective effects. The susceptibility of oxidation poses significant challenges both storage processing, making it essential employ microencapsulation technologies preserve integrity extend shelf life. This paper aims provide a review therapeutic potential, extraction methods, strategies enhancing oil’s stability bioavailability. Optimizing processes encapsulation would enhance bioavailability, enabling be more effectively utilized functional foods across pharmaceutical fields.

Excessive gestational weight gain may be associated with unfavorable pregnancy outcomes. We explored the impact of excessive on components HDL metabolism in maternal plasma: sterol composition particles, distribution subclasses and SCARB1, ABCA1 ABCG1 genes expressions their associations newborns' characteristics. The study included 124 pregnant women, 58 recommended 66 gain. Concentrations cholesterol synthesis marker, desmosterol, within increased during both groups participants. In women gain, levels absorption campesterol, were significantly lower 3rd trimester compared to 1st 2nd trimesters. Relative proportions large 2b Women high pre-pregnancy BMI had lowest β-sitosterol highest relative 3a 3b trimester. Large particles positive correlation, while smaller 3 SCARB1 gene negative correlation APGAR scores. conclusion, could contribute altered HDL, subsequently poorer neonatal

The rising prevalence of infectious diseases and immune-related disorders underscores the need for effective accessible therapeutic solutions. Herbal immunostimulants derived from medicinal plants offer promising alternatives, enhancing immune responses with lower toxicity fewer side effects than synthetic drugs. This review explores immunostimulatory potential Morinda citrifolia, Echinacea purpurea, Phyllanthus niruri, focusing on their bioactive compounds, mechanisms action, relevance. These modulate innate adaptive by activating macrophages, dendritic cells, lymphocytes while regulating cytokine production to maintain homeostasis. Their immunomodulatory are linked key signaling pathways, including NF-κB, MAPK, JAK/STAT. In vitro in vivo studies highlight strengthen control inflammation, making them candidates managing diseases. However, further research is needed standardize formulations, determine optimal dosages, validate safety efficacy clinical settings. Addressing these gaps will support integration herbal into evidence-based healthcare as sustainable immune-enhancing strategies.

Oral pathogen biofilms contribute to chronic infections, while oral cancer remains a significant health threat, emphasizing the need for effective therapeutic strategies. This study investigates fabrication, characterization, and potential of copper oxide-stigmasterol nanoparticles (CuO-SS NPs) biofilm disruption treatment. The antimicrobial activity CuO-SS NPs was evaluated against pathogens, including S. aureus, mutans, E. faecalis, C. albicans. In cell studies, exhibited concentration-dependent cytotoxicity, reducing viability from 88% at 15 µg/mL 29.33% 120 µg/mL, comparable doxorubicin (24.3%). significantly upregulated apoptosis markers (Caspase-3, Caspase-8, FasL) by 4.05, 1.4, 3.1 fold, respectively. These results highlight as dual-purpose infections cancer.

β-Sitosterol (BS), is a significant bioactive component of phytosterols found in plants, foods, and dietary supplements. Its nutritional benefits include lowering cholesterol levels, boost immune system as well reduce inflammation. Previous studies have demonstrated its anticancer effects across various human cancers. However, the specific mechanisms action BS lung cancer remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate through which exerts properties cells, focusing on anti-proliferative, apoptotic, cytotoxic, anti-migratory effects.
