Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was accompanied by an increase in mental health challenges including depression, stress, loneliness, and anxiety. Common genetic variants can contribute to the risk for psychiatric disorders may present a factor times of crises. However, it is unclear what extent polygenic played role response COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, we investigate whether scores (PGSs) health-related traits distinguish between four resilience-vulnerability trajectories identified during associated lockdowns 2020/21. We used multinomial regression genotyped subsample ( n = 1316) CovSocial project. most resilient trajectory characterized lowest burden highest recovery rates served as reference group. Compared trajectory, higher value on PGS well-being spectrum decreased odds individuals be one more vulnerable (adjusted R -square 0.3%). Conversely, neuroticism increased 0.2%). Latent change extracted from not with any PGS. Although our findings support influence COVID-19, small added explained variance suggests limited utility such markers identification general population.

Effects of online contemplative practices, especially partner-based on psychological well-being remain mixed, with sparse understanding potential affective-cognitive mechanisms. The study aimed to assess the efficacy two interventions in improving depression, anxiety, emotion regulation (ER), and resilience, evaluate mechanistic role negative attention interpretation biases. Employing a randomized controlled design (n = 285), we compared 10-week mindfulness-based socio-emotional dyadic interventions, both supported by weekly coaching sessions. Mental health aspects were assessed using validated self-report measures biases mouse-contingent Scrambled Sentences Task. Both waitlist control, led reductions depression ER difficulties, while trait anxiety decreased only after mindfulness training. Increases multidimensional resilience observed training stress recovery training, control. Socio-emotional significant bias this mediated anxiety. Neither state or bias. subclinical nature overrepresentation females sample limits generalizability. Findings indicate that sessions, can reduce difficulties. Though practice reduced enhanced recovery, increased resilience. bias, which emerged as an intervention-specific mechanism. These findings highlight benefits intervention approaches for well-being.

Over the past two decades, fields of social and contemplative neurosciences have made significant strides. Initial research utilizing fMRI identified neuronal networks involved in empathy, mentalizing, compassion, as well complex interactions among these networks. Subsequent studies shifted to testing plasticity skills via different types mindfulness- or compassion-based mental training programs, demonstrating brain plasticity, enhanced capacities motivation, improved health overall well-being. Next, researchers developed scalable evidence-based online programs address growing levels problems loneliness, both exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic. Innovative approaches, such novel relational partner-based practices app-based dyadic offer solutions counteract ongoing societal deterioration. Current are now applying above findings support resilience building within diverse domains society professional populations-such healthcare workers teachers-at high risk burn-out. Future should explore broader impact training-related individual changes on larger systems, potentially leading development a translational neuroscience approach that leverages insights from needs, thereby enhancing resilience, health, cohesion.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has created a significant mental health burden on the global population. Studies during have shown that risk factors such as intolerance of uncertainty and maladaptive emotion regulation are associated with increased psychopathology. Meanwhile, protective cognitive control flexibility been to protect pandemic. However, potential pathways through which these function impact remain unclear. In present multi-wave study, 304 individuals (18 years or older, 191 Males), residing in USA data collection, completed weekly online assessments validated questionnaires across period five weeks (27th March 2020–1st May 2020). Mediation analyses revealed longitudinal changes difficulties mediated effect increases stress, depression, anxiety Further, individual differences moderated relationship between difficulties. While emerged for health, seems against negative effects promote stress resilience. Interventions aimed at enhancing might protection similar crises future.

Low-dose app-based contemplative interventions for mental health are increasingly popular, but heterogeneity in intervention responses indicates that a personalized approach is needed. We examined whether different longitudinal resilience-vulnerability trajectories, derived over the course of COVID-19 pandemic, predicted differences diverse outcomes after mindfulness and socio-emotional dyadic online interventions. The CovSocial project comprised assessment (phase 1) an open-label efficacy trial 2). A community sample 253 participants received 12 min daily or mindfulness-based interventions, with weekly coaching 10 weeks. Before intervention, completed validated self-report questionnaires assessing health. Stress reactivity profiles were from seven repeated assessments during pandemic (January 2020 to March/April 2021) categorized into resilient (more plasticity) vulnerable (less stress recovery profiles. After both only individuals showed significant improvements depression symptomatology, trait anxiety, emotion regulation, recovery. Those did not show any outcome. Limitations this study include relatively small size potential biases associated participant dropout. Brief may be more beneficial those greater levels resiliency plasticity response stressors. More might require intense formats.

Introduction Stress-related diseases pose significant health risks and show wide prevalence. Empirical evidence suggests that contemplative practices, such as socio-emotional dyadic mental exercises, hold promise in mitigating the adverse effects of stress promoting psychosocial well-being. This study aimed to investigate differential two online training programs on response: first involved classic mindfulness while second incorporated a approach known Affect Dyad. Methods The was conducted part longitudinal CovSocial project’s phase 2 context COVID-19 pandemic. 140 individuals participated Trier Social Stress Task (TSST), where response assessed with cortisol saliva samples subjective questionnaires cross-sectional design after active groups finished their intervention period. Participants were randomly assigned group, mindfulness-based or control group did not receive any training. Both consisted ten-week period daily 12-minute app-based practice weekly 2-hour coaching sessions led by teachers. Results showed Dyad but exhibited significantly lower levels at 10, 20, 30, 40 minutes stressor well total output compared during TSST, indicating reduced hormonal social stressor. Subjective markers differences between three groups. Discussion These findings indicate practice, which emphasizes non-judgmental empathic listening acceptance challenging emotions presence others within one's life context, may serve protective factor against triggered fear negative judgments. Given high prevalence stress-related diseases, based practices thus represent an efficient scalable for reduction.

Background: App-based contemplative interventions, such as mindfulness-based have gained popularity for the promotion of mental health; however, understanding underlying intervention-specific mechanisms remains limited, especially related to novel inter-relational dyadic practices. Methods: We tested (n = 253) seven putative two brief (daily 12-min) online interventions: attention-focused mindfulness and socio-emotional partner-based, both supported by weekly coaching. Weekly self-reports rumination, worry, psychological flexibility, affective control, social support, acceptance, were obtained over 10 weeks intervention, depression, anxiety, resilience assessed pre- post-intervention outcomes. Results: Significant week-to-week reductions in rumination increases flexibility observed interventions. Only attention-based practice led temporal only control. Mediation analyses with slopes variables mediators detected no significant indirect effects. However, exploratory moderation revealed that intervention-related depressive symptomatology anxiety vulnerability predicted acceptance control group, worry group. Limitations study include reliance on self-report measures, relatively small sample size, absence long-term follow-up assessments indicating need future well-powered longitudinal studies comparing intervention modalities. Conclusions: present preliminary evidence practice-specific active ingredients which can be leveraged enhance their efficiency health.
