Return to Work in Breast Cancer Patients following an Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Program in a Community-Based Cancer Rehabilitation Center: A Pilot Study

Despite
curative
treatment
and
discharge
from
acute
hospital
settings,
breast
cancer
patients
often
have
cancer-
treatment-related
morbidity
which
impairs
them
returning
to
work.
Hence,
the
role
of
community-based
return
work
rehabilitation
programs
is
important
help
these
transition
back

a
retrospective
cohort
study

Abstract
Aim:
This
study
aims
to
evaluate
the
attitudes
of
cancer
patients
undergoing
radiotherapy
toward
Traditional
and
Complementary
Medicine
their
health
perceptions,
methods
they
use,
relationships
between
these
factors.
Materials
Methods:
descriptive,
cross-sectional,
correlational
was
conducted
with
82
receiving
treatment
at
Radiation
Oncology
Clinic
Selçuk
University
Faculty
Hospital.
Data
were
collected
using
a
demographic
information
form,
Attitudes
Toward
Scale
(TCMAS),
Health
Perception
(HPS).
The
data
analyzed
SPSS
22.0
software
descriptive
statistics,
one-way
ANOVA,
Pearson
correlation
tests.
Results:
mean
age
participants
56.7±10.8,
54.9%
being
male,
45.1%
female,
76.8%
married.
Among
participants,
43.9%
in
stage
2
31.7%
3,
prostate
most
common
type
(32.9%).
A
total
52.4%
reported
TCM
methods,
commonly
used
religious
practices
(87.8%),
manipulative
approaches
(massage
reflexology;
46.4%),
phytotherapy
(31.7%),
meditation
(12.2%),
hypnosis
(4.9%),
guided
imagery
(2.4%),
energy
(Reiki,
bioenergy,
healing
energy;
1.2%).
Of
26.8%
obtained
from
family,
14.7%
TV
social
media,
12.2%
healthcare
professionals,
46.3%
stated
had
no
knowledge
about
TCM.
TCMAS
score

Este
estudio
cuasi-experimental
con
grupo
control
y
metodología
mixta
evalúa
los
efectos
de
un
programa
arteterapia
musicoterapia
en
pacientes
adultos
oncológicos
hospitalizados.
Tras
tres
sesiones
intervención,
el
experimental
experimentó
mejoras
significativas
dolor,
ansiedad,
depresión

emocional
