Nature-based therapeutic interventions have emerged promising approach to addressing these mental challenges. This study seeks assess impact on anxiety levels. Methods: We conducted an extensive search for randomized clinical trials that examined anxiety, depression The selected studies underwent rigorous risk-of-bias assessment following guidelines outlined in Cochrane Handbook Systematic Reviews. Recent "stay-at-home" restrictions due COVID-19 pandemic further emphasized importance creating spaces that directly and indirectly support physical mental health. In this viewpoint article, we discuss opportunities for combining interventions design, fostering disease-specific self-care. We provide examples designing integrating interventions, light therapy, relaxation opportunities, mindfulness meditation, listening music, activities, aromatherapy, quality sleep. There is growing interest in nature-based interventions (NBI) to improve human health and wellbeing. An important nascent area exploring the potential of outdoor therapies treat prevent common mental problems like depression. In this conceptual analysis on nature-depression nexus, we distil some main issues for consideration when NBIs depression are being developed. We argue that understanding mechanisms, or 'active ingredients' crucial understand what works whom. Successfully identifying modifiable mediating intervention targets will pave way with increased efficacy. highlight a non-exhaustive list five clinically relevant putative, candidate mechanisms which may underly beneficial effects depression: stress, rumination, mindfulness, sleep exercise. also make case developing it not neglect young people, explore personalised approaches focus both treatment prevention approaches. To achieve these aims methodologically rigorous programmes clinical research needed include well-powered controlled experimental designs including randomised trials, qualitative research, longitudinal studies large prospective cohorts.

Background: With the global burden of disease increasing, particularly in relation to often preventable chronic diseases, researchers and clinicians are keen identify interventions that can mitigate ill health enhance psychological wellbeing people living with long-term conditions (LTCs). It is long established engagement nature support human wellbeing, recent years, nature-based (NBIs) have been advanced as potential benefit. This review thus sought systematically appraise published evidence application NBIs address for those LTCs. Methods: A systematic search three databases, PsycINFO, MEDLINE SCOPUS, was undertaken, BestBETs quality assessment checklist used methodological elicited studies. Results: Of 913 studies identified, 13 (12 using quantitative methods, one qualitative) were used. Included papers reported use a variety outcomes alongside more circumscribed physiological outcomes. Quality appraisal showed modest robustness, some weaknesses dominance developed countries, yet synthesis suggested present strong argument having promising positive impact on wellbeing. Conclusions: impacts LTCs, suggesting they may be suitable addition current maintenance treatment. Future research should focus minimising study bias increasing cross-cultural applications.
