First responders and other public safety personnel (PSP) experience high rates of mental health problems face barriers to accessing healthcare. Internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (ICBT) is an effective accessible treatment for various concerns. Canadian PSP report favorable attitudes toward ICBT, preliminary outcomes demonstrate that they benefit from it. Expanding on this research, the current study consisted a longitudinal observational 560 who participated in ICBT. It was designed assess longer term effectiveness ICBT moderators by gender, linguistic occupational group, years experience. We evaluated symptom change at 8, 26, 52 weeks post-enrollment, results among had elevated clinical scores, showed large reductions (Hedges' g) symptoms depression (g = 1.3), anxiety =1.48), posttraumatic stress =1.24), panic =1.19), anger =1.07) moderate social =.48-.56). Abstract Women bring many benefits to policing but represent only 14% of sworn police in the United States. Researchers have examined different recruitment strategies, yet few sought insight from women officers themselves. We explored officers’ perspectives on recruiting and retaining more policing. Using semi-structured interviews, we asked 40 current retired how agencies can better target increase their representation. Responses were analyzed using open coding techniques. Participants noted difficulty hiring amid a larger staffing crisis. They also discussed structure culture work as barriers retention suggested outreach mentorship strategies integration. Background The military-to-civilian transition can be a challenging period for many service members; however, recent research suggests that female ex-service personnel (veterans) confront additional complexities during reintegration into civilian life. This systematic review aimed to identify and synthesise findings across qualitative studies exploring the impact of gender on this process. Methods Peer-reviewed literature was drawn from multi-database search, limited studies. included either veterans or both male aged 18 years older who had previously served in Armed Forces within Five Eyes (FVEY) countries (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, States). We used Framework Analysis approach guide synthesis data. An assessment study quality conducted using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Qualitative Critical Appraisal Checklist Studies. protocol is registered with Open Science (registration: osf.io/5stuj). Results In total, 10,113 articles were screened after removal duplicates, 161 underwent full-text review, 19 meeting eligibility criteria. identified eleven themes split individual’s experience whilst serving transitioning out military service. Both discussed acculturation when they joined adapted norms, culture identity. Female faced challenges at stage centred conflict between feminine norms masculine ideal. Upon leaving experienced loss identity purpose, dissonance illustrating military-civilian divide. For veterans, adjustments adaptations learned clashed stereotypically veteran culture. also struggled legacies inequality, discrimination, sexual assault which affected their development provision services designed meet needs as female. Public safety personnel (PSP) are frequently exposed to psychologically traumatic events. The exposures potentiate posttraumatic stress injuries (PTSIs), including disorder (PTSD). Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Protocol was designed mitigate PTSIs using ongoing monitoring and PSP-delivered Emotional Resilience Skills Training (ERST) based on the Unified for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Disorders. current study pilot-tested ERST effectiveness among diverse PSP. A 16-month longitudinal design engaged serving PSP (n = 119; 34 % female; firefighters, municipal police, paramedics, public communicators) who completed ERST. Participants were assessed symptoms PTSIs, but not limited PTSD, at pre- post-training, 1-year follow-up self-report measures clinical interviews. There reductions in diagnostic interview positive screens PTSD other PTSI from post-training (ps < 0.05), with mental health sustained or improved follow-up. Improvements observed firefighters (Cohen's d 0.40 0.71), police 0.28 0.38), paramedics 0.20 0.56), communicators 0.05 0.14). Under-representation of women in policing is a global phenomenon, with considerable commonality barriers to career success and differential experiences compared men. Through comparative analysis utilising unique survey interview data female male senior police leaders England Wales, this paper considers whether cultural structural persist how they are experienced by gender; examines the challenges encountered en route rank; similarities or differences gender impact upon careers. The findings considered have world-wide relevance, demonstrating that those officers achieving seniority tend share similar whatever their gender, particularly at highest ranks. Leadership styles emerge as homogenous agentic traits traditional persisting. Costs higher rank appear differ however, access revealed dependent engaging behaviours including long-hours culture ensuring family does not reduce work capacity, effectively promoting 'child-tax' leaders. Abstract Women police officers may experience discrimination and work–life balance challenges that can impede their entry into advancement retention within organizations. This study used in-depth interviews with 14 women in the St. Louis, MO, metropolitan region to examine workplace stressors, experiences policing, perceptions of whether how gender influenced those stressors experiences. Participants expressed they experienced based on gender, including direct discrimination, such as denial specialized training, lateral changes duty assignments, barriers career advancement, indirect form teasing, harassment, higher expectations. Many participants also reported deployed coping strategies insulate themselves from experiences, isolated situations might result or sought ways mitigate harm Police departments must create environments support not just representation but equity.

Abstract In an effort to reduce gender disparities in policing and move beyond the current legitimacy crisis faced by profession, there has been a renewed focus on increasing recruitment retention of female police officers. Beyond understanding why officers have remained field, it is important understand some left profession altogether. The study employs deductive inductive coding mixed-methods self-report survey from 154 former Dallas Police Department (DPD). We sought examine advice that would give other women who might want enter or promote within policing. Responses highlighted challenges related impact family life, navigating male-dominated culture, maintaining one’s sense identity integrity, creating strong social support networks. Implications for DPD agencies are discussed.
