Psychological First Aid (PFA) refers to evidence-supported intervention by non-mental health professionals assist those affected disaster re-achieve stability through a stepwise process (Ruzek et al., 2007). Emergency medical service (EMS) ambulance employees play a critical role in emergency healthcare delivery. However, work-related experiences can compromise their mental health and job satisfaction. Despite available supportive services offered by EMS organizations, employee uptake remains low, while ill suicide rates remain higher than those of the general population. Understanding barriers to enablers such support is crucial for addressing factors that connect with designed help. This systematic review identified 34 relevant articles utilized an innovative process integrating quantitative qualitative aspects primary gray literature provide synthesis facilitators as perceived employees. Themes (in)ability ask help, tailored person-centered support, education training about were overarched organizational culture. Barriers included obligation rather genuine care, alongside machismo stigma. Enablers valuing acknowledging risk providing time normalizing utilization at work. Reframing from dominance, competition, toughness respect, perseverance, courage; promoting adaptive coping; essential. Future research should aim understand influencing interventions based on these themes.

Police officers are often exposed to traumatic events, which can induce psychological distress and increase the risk of developing post-traumatic stress injuries. To date, little is known about support prevention events in police organizations. Psychological first aid (PFA) has been promoted as a promising solution prevent following exposure event. However, PFA not yet adapted policing reality, let alone frequent faced by this population. This study aimed evaluate feasibility an early intervention for injuries among Quebec, Canada. Specifically, objectives were evaluate: (1) demand. (2) practicality, (3) acceptability organization.A was conducted implementation Quebec's provincial force. do so, 36 participated semi-structured interviews between October 26th, 2021, July 23rd, 2022. Firefighting is inherently dangerous, though recently concerns have shifted from traditional fireground injuries (burns and asphyxiation) to a focus on mental behavioral health. Although firefighters are remarkably resilient, research suggests many suffer negative psychological consequences repeated exposures trauma. While the Stress First Aid (SFA) model has gained increased attention adoption among fire departments as for health training, it not been formally evaluated. This cluster randomized controlled trial used crossover design comparing immediate SFA group delayed control test impact of firefighters' changes after 10-12 months (n = 400; Mage 37.6, 4.8% women). A convenience sample 79 (Mage 41.4; 8.7% women) provided evaluations one or more training modules. Participants reported satisfaction with all components (Peer team 97.6%, Online 94.9%, Curbside Manner 88.4%, After Action Review 89.4%) success in changing personnel's perception their department's ability respond issues (SFA M 3.93, Control 3.50; t 2.52, p 0.042). Future work should additional resources augment existing efforts help continue efforts.
