BACKGROUND Perinatal mood disorders such as depression and anxiety are common, with subclinical symptomology manifesting perinatal disturbances being even more prevalent. These could potentially affect breastfeeding practices infant development. Pregnant lactating women usually limit their exposure to medications, including those for psychological symptoms. Interestingly, the naturally occurring probiotic Bifidobacterium longum (BL) NCC3001 has been shown reduce anxious behavior in preclinical models feelings of low nonpregnant human adults. During COVID-19 pandemic, mental health issues increased, conventionally conducted clinical trials were restricted by social distancing regulations. OBJECTIVE This study, Probiotics on Mothers’ Mood Stress (PROMOTE), aimed use a decentralized trial design test whether BL can symptoms depression, anxiety, stress over period. METHODS double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, 3-parallel-arm study recruit 180 evaluate efficacy taken either during pregnancy post partum (from 28-32 weeks’ gestation until 12 weeks after delivery; n=60, 33.3%) or only birth comparison placebo control group (n=60, 33.3%). Participants consumed matched drink once daily. outcomes measured using State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale questionnaires, captured electronically at baseline (28-32 gestation) e-study sessions 5 further time points (36 gestation; 9 days partum; 4, 8, partum). Maternal immune activation (MIA) can result from a variety of maternal inflammatory factors, including metabolic disorders, nutritional deficits, infections, and psychosocial stress. Objectives Healthcare students went through a rough time in March 2022 due to extreme changes the educational system (moving from online stationary learning) and Ukrainian-Russian war circumstances. Our study aims update knowledge about psychological distress its impact on healthcare Poland after two years of COVID-19 pandemic, followed by intense political instability Europe. Methods We conducted cross-sectional Poznan University Medical Sciences, Poland, April 2022. The questionnaire included subjective retrospective 5-point Likert-scales ratings anxiety, stress, depression self-reported information various predictors. Results anxiety levels at beginning pandemic were higher than There was no significant reduction stress depression. Females had initial post-pandemic levels. Higher reported significantly correlated with Eastern Europe (Spearman r = 0.178, 0.169, 0.154, p ≤ 0.001, respectively). concern moving towards education showed association only level (r 0.099, 0.034). also observed positive correlation between deteriorating sleep quality ,=0.325, 0.410, 0.440, < 0.001), feeling worsening relationships family peers 0.325, 0.343, 0.379, sense loss efficient management 0.321, 0.345, 0.001). Conclusion Throughout progression Ukrainian females improved (lower levels) anxiety. Nevertheless, current remain alarming, while remained unchanged. Mental, psychological, social support activities are required for students, especially those away their families. Objective The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic presents an opportunity to study stress's effect on the development of non-syndromic orofacial clefts (NSOFCs). This was aimed at assessing maternal stress exposure during pregestational first trimester pregnancy periods and NSOFCs a year COVID-19 pandemic. Design Cohort infants with controls matched based recruitment site age. Setting Government hospitals in Saudi Arabia between November 2020 2021. Main Outcome Measures Data collection included NSOFC clinical examination assessment using Modified Life Events Questionnaire, Fear Scale, focus lack planning threatened miscarriage. Results Of 557 recruited, 191 had NSOFCs. Logistic regression analysis adjusted odds ratios (AORs) that removed effects confounders showed any seven stressful life events (AOR:3.78, P < .001) family histories relatives (AOR:9.73, increased AOR for development. In contrast, folic acid (AOR:0.56, P.010), miscarriage (AOR:0.17, = .001), fear (AOR:0.83, .038), suspected infection (AOR:0.43, .008) decreased Conclusion Along established risk associated history birth defects, may be factor Beyond acid's known benefit, it higher health concerns contribute protective behaviors pregnancy. Ongoing research is needed specify factors NSOFC.
