In recent years, mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have been widely applied in competition sports with respect to athletic performance and mental health promotion, whereas evidence of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) has not well summarized. Therefore, this study aimed systematically review meta-analyze the existing on effects MBIs improving performance, mindfulness level, mindfulness-related psychological components (e.g., acceptance, self-compassion, flow), burnout, stress, well-being) among athletes. Following PRISMA guidelines, a literature search was implemented five electronic databases (Web Science, PubMed, Scopus, ProQuest, ScienceDirect) relevant papers. The article selection, risk bias assessment, data extraction were performed by two investigators independently. standardized mean difference (SMD) calculated evaluate using random effect model. Among 1897 original hits, thirty-two eligible RCT studies included systematic review, which seven involved meta-analysis. results showed that effective promoting athletes’ performances (by narrative synthesis), mindfulness-level (n = 3; SMD 0.50, 95% CI [0.17, 0.83]; I2 45%, p 0.16), 5; 0.81, [0.53, 1.10], 77%, =0.001), while no significant intervention found athletes 4; −0.03, [−0.35, 0.29], 89%, < 0.001). Our findings preliminarily support potential effectiveness MBIs, more high-quality RCTs needed future.

Databases like PubMed, Web Science, others were searched for randomized controlled trials up to October 31, 2024. Included studies compared interventions non-mindfulness in athletes. The outcome indicators analyzed using Review Manager 5.4 software. Among 6917 articles, 32 with 1108 (560 experimental, 548 control) included. Mindfulness significantly improved (p<0.01), resilience (p<0.05), state anxiety depression dimensions (p<0.01) but not well-being (p>0.05). MAC, MAIC, MBSP, MT effective mindfulness. best intervention duration was 7 weeks, sessions lasting over 60 minutes once week. MAC resilience. MT, state. MBSP alleviated while MBSR depression. MAIC mitigated fatigue. positively impacts athletes' enhancing flow, alleviating fatigue, well-being. Optimal methods durations vary by outcome.

The presented study evaluates the evidence base underpinning use of Mindfulness–Acceptance–Commitment approach (MAC) in applied sport psychology. To assess effectiveness MAC protocol on improving mindfulness and psychological flexibility, enhancing performance well-being among athletes, we used Robust Bayesian Meta-Analysis with Publication Selection Model-Averaging (RoBMAPSMA). In total, there were eleven controlled trials included meta-analysis. Results RoBMAPSMA show: a moderate model-averaged effect size estimate for developing strong (g = 0.64, 95% CI 0.00–0.91, BFes 25.35); small experiential acceptance anecdotal 0.36, 0.00–0.92, 2.32); 0.37, 0.00–0.79, 3.27). Only one assessed averaged sizes ranged from 0.01 to 0.82. Based results meta-analysis, can be effective mindfulness. addition, suggest that might performance. Currently available trials, however, do not provide sufficient supporting protocol's acceptance, promoting athletes.
