The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the mental health of general population. This holds true especially for vulnerable groups, including young people, students, and females. Our study examined cross-sectional changes in depressive symptoms from immediately before (January/February 2020) to second wave epidemic Slovenia 2021) among female tertiary students. A multivariate analysis two repeated surveys was performed using relatively homogeneous samples. pooled sample included 418 adult students (Mage = 21.21 years). Before the COVID-19 pandemic, prevalence and severity of psychiatric disorders among sexual gender diverse (SGD) young people was greater than in their heterosexual/cisgender peers. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in psychological distress the general population, but contrasting results have been shown regarding its impact on symptoms clinical and non-clinical samples.
