We outline how a researcher's identity can influence all aspects research, including question, study design, data collection analysis. discuss that 'insider' position paramedics conducting with other or within specific clinical setting has considerable benefits participant access, understanding dissemination, while highlighting difficulties role duality power dynamics. While is concerned researcher clearly stating assumptions relating topic, context process, as well participants; involves questioning finding strategies address these. The must reflect upon way carried out explain they moved through processes reach certain conclusions, aim producing trustworthy honest account research. : First responders (FRs) are at high risk of being exposed to traumatic events in their occupational roles. Responding critical incidents often involves exposure life-threatening circumstances, dealing with fatalities and encountering highly stressful situations that may trigger responses. These experiences can lead poor physical mental health (MH) outcomes including post-traumatic stress disorder, co-morbid conditions such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, insomnia, suicidality. Little research has explored the perspectives FRs trauma(s) how best meet needs.
