Abstract Background: Chile did not adopt general and unified lockdowns for the whole nation but organized itself with dynamic sometimes irregular lockdowns. These dynamics consequences of social isolation could be generalized to other contexts such as those affecting minorities immigrants, prisoners, refugees. Methods: In this study, we investigated physical mental health symptoms associated lifestyle changes due lockdown among university students in Chile. The continuous monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 infection waves and the emergence novel pathogens pose a challenge for effective public health surveillance strategies based on diagnostics. We aimed at describing evolution COVID-19 pandemic during 2020 2021 through regular self-reported in an Alpine community sample.To this purpose, we designed longitudinal study, Cooperative Health Research South Tyrol study.A sample 845 participants was retrospectively investigated active past infections with swab blood tests, by August 2020, allowing adjusted cumulative incidence estimation. Of them, 700 without previous or vaccination were followed up monthly until July first-time symptom self-reporting: anamnesis, social contacts, lifestyle sociodemographic data assessed remotely digital questionnaires. Temporal trajectories rates modelled clustering dynamic correlation analysis. Negative binomial regression random forest analysis relative importance symptoms.At baseline, 1.10% (95% CI 0.51%, 2.10%). Symptom mimicked both confirmed cases infections. Cluster identified two groups high-frequency low-frequency symptoms. The association between younger age and poorer mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic has been documented. Whether these changes were associated with a change in antidepressant (AD) use is not well understood.
