Water yield services are critical for maintaining ecological sustainability and regional economies. Climate change land use/cover (LUCC) significantly affect water yield, but the spatiotemporal variability of has been overlooked in previous studies. This study aims to explore relative contributions climate changes at both grid subwatershed scales. This employed InVEST model calculate area a multi-scenario simulation approach investigate impacts LUCC on scales. Furthermore, these two types were quantified.Firstly, upstream areas experience lower annual average precipitation, temperature, potential evapotranspiration than downstream areas, with worsening drought severity. Secondly, urbanization led significant LUCC, decreases farmland grassland increases forest, water, building land, unused land. Thirdly, spatial heterogeneity remains consistent across different scales, more pronounced clustering is observed scale. Fourthly, primary factor affecting services, surpassing influence LUCC. Lastly, cycling watersheds, vegetation coverage being yield. These findings highlight need consider complex relationships between change, multiple scales resource management.

Inter-basin water transfer (IBWT) projects are an effective means of addressing regional resource imbalances. However, owing to the long construction cycle, large investment amount, and wide impact range, diversion exhibit delayed complex benefits, often lacking clear comprehension. In this study, we established a multi-regional comprehensive benefit assessment framework for IBWT, considering spatiotemporal multi-dimensional value effects. Using South-to-North Water Diversion Project (SNWDP) in China as example, assessed its benefits from 2003 2020. The results showed that project were USD 207 billion, encompassing economic ecological accounting 71.6% 28.4%, respectively. 2020, SNWDP amounted 39.3 with per-unit area range −1.03 4.27. operation effectively alleviated groundwater overexploitation water-receiving areas. without SNWDP, total loss caused by industrial development limitations due scarcity would have been 154.3 billion. These indicate importance practical assessing IWBT aiding managers tasks, facilitating prediction adjustment benefits.

Abstract Global biodiversity is largely dependent on aquatic habitats. The state of fish habitats and the health ecosystem as a whole are important indicators environmental quality. In recent years, implications human interference climate change environments have gained significant attention. Hydrological modifications driven by anthropogenic activities steadily degrading flow conditions threatening abundance in geographic region, while simultaneously having an impact watershed. Therefore, integrated hydrological-hydrodynamic-habitat modelling under diverse regimes can be used to assess eco-sustainability habitat suitability species. This article categorizes variables into three groups: eco-hydrological, hydrodynamic-water quality, eco-biological. categorization facilitates understanding mechanisms which each factor affects their study, first its kind, provides extensive review eco-hydrological models, quality along with relevant influencing components. It proposes scientific framework for evaluating potential hazards degradation, emphasis data-scarce regions. strategy could potentially establish basis preservation restoration ecosystems.

Interregional cooperation is an important mechanism for promoting regional equality. The paired assistance policy (PAP) has been broadly used to address inequality in China. In Beijing, developed plain districts have paired, one-to-one, with less ecological conservation areas (ECAs) mountainous regions promote green development and livelihood improvements. these pairings, lateral inputs from such as financial inputs, industrial assistance, human resource training, etc., are provided the ECAs. To analyse effect of Beijing PAP implementation, 2013–2022 vulnerability index each district ECAs was evaluated Vulnerability-Scoping-Diagram (VSD) model reflect changes environment before after implementation. Propensity Score Matching Difference-in-Differences (PSM-DID) explore impact on livelihoods rural residents results revealed that decreased 0.45 2013 than 0.05 2022, average annual reduction 9%, attributing strict implementation preservation policies. also clearly promoted economy addition effectively stimulating ECAs, can be referenced by similar metropolitan cities develop collaboration protection balanced development.
