Metabolic
syndrome
(MetS)

The
definition
of
metabolic
syndrome
(MetS)
has
undergone
several
changes
over
the
years
due
to
difficulty
in
establishing
universal
criteria
for
it.
Underlying
disorders
related
MetS
is
almost
invariably
a
pro-inflammatory
state
altered
glucose
metabolism,
which
could
lead
elevated
cardiovascular
risk.

Abstract
This
review
aimed
to
systematically
quantify
the
differences
in
Metabolic
Syndrome
(MetS)
prevalence
across
various
ethnic
groups
high-income
countries
by
sex,
and
evaluate
overall
trends
from
1996
2022.

conducted
a
systematic
literature
using
MEDLINE,
Web
of
Science
Core
Collection,
CINAHL,
Cochrane
Library,
focusing
on
studies
about
MetS
among
countries.

147,756
healthy
participants
aged
18
above.

metabolic
syndrome
(MS)
is
a
multifactorial
associated
with

economic
burden
and
healthcare
costs.
