An enriched environment stimulates adult hippocampal plasticity, but the exact cellular and molecular mechanisms are complex, thus a matter of debate. We studied behavior neurogenesis in male female Wistar rats that were housed an (EE) for two months. Both EE males females performed better than control animals Barnes maze, meaning enhances spatial memory. However, expression levels markers KI67, DCX, Nestin, Syn1 increased only females, while KI67 BDNF higher corresponding control. The number DCX+ neurons on brain slices dentate gyrus only, i.e., level was not rats. anti-inflammatory IL-10 signaling pathway components upregulated females. Of 84 miRNAs tested, hippocampi we detected upregulation 12 related to neuronal differentiation morphogenesis, four involved regulation cell proliferation/differentiation, one downregulated associated with stimulation proliferation. Taken altogether, our results point sex-specific differences expression, miRNA profiles induced by environment.

The neurotrophin brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) stimulates adult neurogenesis, but also influences structural plasticity and function of serotonergic neurons. Both, BDNF/TrkB signaling the system modulate behavioral responses to stress can lead pathological states when dysregulated. two systems have been shown mediate therapeutic effect antidepressant drugs regulate hippocampal neurogenesis. To elucidate interplay both at cellular levels, we generated a transgenic mouse line that overexpresses BDNF in neurons an inducible manner. Besides displaying enhanced hippocampus-dependent contextual learning, mice were less affected by chronic social defeat (CSDS) compared wild-type animals. In parallel, observed axonal sprouting dentate gyrus increased neural stem/progenitor cell proliferation, which was uniformly distributed along dorsoventral axis hippocampus. forced swim test, BDNF-overexpressing behaved similarly as treated with fluoxetine. Our data suggest released from projections exerts this partly enhancing Furthermore, independently genotype, neurogenesis positively correlated interaction time after CSDS, measure for resilience.

The dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampus has been implicated in regulation stress responses, and pathophysiology treatment depression. This review discusses cellular changes caused by chronic role DG stress-induced behavioral its antidepressant-like effects. Regarding adult-born neurogenic processes DG, stress, such as repeated social defeat, suppresses cell proliferation during immediately after stress; however, this effect is transient. subsequent differentiation survival are differentially regulated depending on timing sensitivity stress. activation young neurons contributes to resilience, while transient increase cessation seems promote susceptibility. In mature granule neurons, predominant cells synaptic plasticity suppressed However, a group activated Chronic antidepressant can transform phenotype resembling that immature characterized "dematuration". Adult-born suppress indicating local neural interactions within important for response. Elucidating stress-associated context- timing-dependent functions will provide insights into stress-related psychiatric diseases.

The hippocampus, noted as (HC), plays a crucial role in the processes of learning, memory formation, and spatial navigation. Recent research reveals that this brain region can undergo structural functional changes due to environmental exposures, including stress, noise pollution, sleep deprivation, microgravity. This review synthesizes findings from animal human studies, emphasizing HC's plasticity response these factors. It examines volume, architecture, neurogenesis, synaptic plasticity, gene expression highlights critical periods vulnerability influences impacting cognition behavior. also investigates underlying mechanisms such glucocorticoid signaling, epigenetic alterations, neural circuit adaptations. Understanding how HC reacts various exposures is vital for developing strategies enhance cognitive resilience mitigate negative effects on region. Psychiatric disorders have been reported to influence many health outcomes, but evidence about their impact on chronic kidney disease (CKD) has not fully explored, as well possible mechanisms implicated are still unclear. Four hundred forty-one thousand eight ninety-three participants from UK Biobank were included in this study. To assess the association between psychiatric mainly including depression, anxiety, stress-related disorders, substance misuse psychotic disorder, and CKD, a Cox regression model using age underlying time scale was employed. This approach considers progression of beginning end study elapsed time. Flexible nonparametric smoothing conducted illustrate temporal patterns. Subgroup analyses performed by stratification gender, genetic susceptibility at entry or exit cohort, follow-up duration, number baseline. Mediation analysis implemented evaluate roles body mass index (BMI), hypertension, diabetes. Compared with individuals without an increased risk CKD observed patients (hazard ratios (HR) = 1.52, 95% confidence intervals (CI): 1.40–1.65, p-value < 0.001).
