Stroke-induced depression is a common complication and an important risk factor for disability. Besides psychiatric symptoms, depressed patients may also exhibit variety of gastrointestinal even take symptoms as the primary reason medical treatment. It well documented that stress disrupt balance gut microbiome in suffering from post-stroke (PSD), disruption closely related to severity condition patients. Therefore, maintaining intestinal microbiota can be focus research on mechanism acupuncture treatment PSD. Furthermore, stroke effectively treated with at all stages it act special microecological regulator by regulating well. In this article, we reviewed studies changing after examined existing problems development prospects acupuncture, microbiome, poststroke depression, order provide new ideas future research.

Numerous studies have investigated the effects of exercise on post-stroke depression (PSD), yet findings remain inconclusive. This study aims to evaluate impact depressive symptoms in stroke patients and identify most effective protocols for this population. A systematic review Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web Science, Scopus databases was conducted, with a search cutoff date 13 September 2024. Quantitative synthesis employed assess intervention effects, effect sizes expressed as standardized mean differences (SMDs) 95% confidence intervals efficacy alleviating PSD. total 24 met inclusion criteria. The results indicated that significantly alleviated (SMD = -0.18; p 0.007). Specifically, multicomponent training emerged reducing -0.24; 0.008). Additionally, programs duration ≥12 weeks (SMD, -0.17; 0.04), ≥3 sessions per week -0.20; 0.02), <60 min session -0.19; 0.05), <180 -0.27; 0.02) were found be Exercise represents an strategy managing PSD, potentially serving optimal intervention. These provide evidence clinicians, recommending engage at least three times weekly, individual not exceeding 60 min. By increasing frequency exercise, cumulative weekly time should ideally below 180 outcomes.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) has a profound impact on cognitive and mental functioning, leading to lifelong impairment significantly diminishing the quality of life for affected individuals. A healthy blood-brain barrier (BBB) plays crucial role in guarding against elevated levels blood glutamate, making its permeability vital aspect glutamate regulation within brain. Studies have shown efficacy reducing excess as treatment post-TBI depression, anxiety, aggression. The purpose this article is evaluate involvement dietary development depression after TBI. We performed literature search examine effects diets abundant which are common Asian populations, when compared low prevalent Europe America. specifically explored these context chronic BBB damage TBI, may initiate neurodegeneration subsequently an through mechanism neurotoxicity. glutamate-rich diet leads increased contrasted with glutamate-poor diet. Introduction Post-stroke depression (PSD), one of the most common complications following stroke, affects approximately one-third stroke patients and is significantly associated with increased disability mortality as well decreased quality life, which makes it an important public health concern. Treatment PSD ameliorates depressive symptoms improves prognosis stroke.Areas covered The authors discuss critical aspects clinical application prediction preventive treatment PSD. Then, update biological factors onset Furthermore, they summarize recent progress in pharmacological trials propose potential targets. also current roadblocks Finally, put postulate directions for future studies so to discover accurate predictors provide individualized treatment.Expert opinion Sorting out high-risk using reliable will greatly assist management. Indeed, some not only predict incidence but prognosis, indicates that might aid development scheme. Preventive antidepressants may be considered.

Objective Vestibular and psychiatric disorders are very closely related. Previous research shows that the discomfort dysfunction caused by dizziness in patients can affect psychological processes, leading to anxiety depression, irritation of depression aggravate dizziness. But causal relationship between recovery period stroke Post-stroke (PSD) / (PSA) is not clear. Identifying them enable us conduct more targeted treatments.

Abstract Objectives This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of escitalopram sertraline in post-stroke depression (PSD) patients, provide more reliable therapeutics for cardiovascular psychiatric clinical practice. Methods We recruited 60 patients (aged 40–89 years old) with an ICD-10 diagnosis PSD, who were then randomly assigned two groups treated flexible doses (10 20 mg/day, n = 30) or (50 200 consecutive 8 weeks, respectively. The 24-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-24), 14-item Anxiety (HAMA-14), Treatment Emergent Symptom (TESS), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), Activity Daily Living scale (ADL) used assess before, during, after treatment depression, anxiety, adverse effects, cognitive function, daily living activities. Repeated measures ANOVA, Mann–Whitney U test, chi-square test (χ 2 ), Fisher’s exact was employed baseline demographics, response rate, effects changes other variables. Results Significant reduction HAMD-24 HAMA-14 scores evaluated at baseline, as well 1, 3, 4, 6, weeks drug intervention ( p < 0.01). There a significant group difference post-treatment 0.05), but no observed > 0.05). Further analysis showed variance between end first week incidence both patient mild, there statistically improvement function recovery abilities comparable Conclusion Escitalopram anxiety symptoms, PSD patients. In addition, appropriate alleviating depressive symptoms. To validate conclusion, trials larger sample size are demand future. registration number is ChiCTR1800017373.

Despite the presentation of similar psychological symptoms, dysfunction secondary to brain injury exhibits markedly lower treatment efficacy compared injury-independent dysfunction. This gap remains evident, despite extensive research efforts. review integrates clinical and preclinical evidence provide a comprehensive overview neurobiological mechanisms underlying neuropsychological disorders, focusing on role key regions in emotional regulation across various forms injuries. It examines therapeutic interventions mechanistic targets, with primary goal identifying pathways for targeted treatments. The highlights promising avenues addressing injury-associated dysfunction, emphasizing Nrf2, neuropeptides, nonpharmacological therapies as multi-mechanistic capable modulating upstream mediators address complex interplay factors injury. Furthermore, underscores significant gaps, particularly inadequate consideration interactions among causal factors, environmental influences, individual susceptibilities. By this provides new insights calls paradigm shift toward more context-specific integrative approach developing following
