Vitamin D's role extends beyond classical calcium and phosphate homeostasis to encompass a pivotal influence on immune modulation metabolic health. The mechanisms by which vitamin D exerts these effects involve its conversion hormonally active calcitriol, binds intracellular receptors, initiating various downstream cascades. In this review, we tease out the evidence showing relationship between deficiency prediabetes within context of subclinical inflammation, with special focus novel monocyte-to-HDL ratio (MHR), inflammatory marker reflecting inflammation. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is an emerging global health concern with limited therapeutic options. Multivitamins, widely consumed dietary supplements, have been proposed to modulate oxidative stress and inflammation, potentially impacting MASLD progression. However, their efficacy in reducing mortality other complications remains unclear. Using data from the UK Biobank 7 years of median follow-up period, this study assessed association between multivitamin use outcomes, including all-cause mortality, liver-related cardio-cerebrovascular (CVD), chronic kidney (CKD), individuals those without disease. Inverse probability treatment weighting (IPTW) was employed adjust for confounders. Multivitamin users showed a significantly lower risk cohort both before (HR: 0.88, 95% CI 0.81–0.95, P = 0.034) after 0.94, 0.88–1.00, 0.037) IPTW adjustment. also associated CVD 0.72, 0.68–0.76, < 0.001) CKD 0.73, 0.67–0.81, cohort. No significant reduction found or cirrhosis incidence. These findings suggest that multivitamins might provide broader protective effects populations metabolic dysfunction. Further research needed clarify role liver-specific outcomes.

The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in human metabolic health by influencing immune responses, digestion, and homeostasis. Recent research highlights the intricate interactions between RNA, especially non-coding RNAs, regulating processes. Dysbiosis of has been linked to disorders such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) heart disease. Microbial metabolites, including short-chain acids (SCFAs), modulate RNA expression, lipid metabolism, glucose regulation, inflammatory responses. Additionally, microRNAs (miRNAs) long RNAs (lncRNAs) serve critical regulators these processes, with emerging evidence showing that gut-derived metabolites affect post-transcriptional gene regulation. This review synthesizes current understanding microbiota-RNA axis its diseases. By exploring molecular mechanisms, particularly how microbiota-derived signals pathways, underscores potential targeting this for therapeutic interventions. Furthermore, it examines dysbiosis leads epigenetic changes m6A methylation, contributing pathogenesis. These insights offer new perspective on prevention treatment diseases, applications personalized medicine.

Oral leukoplakia is one of the most frequent oral potentially malignant disorders. The present study aims to compare serum vitamin D levels between patients with and without leukoplakia, by smoking habit. This cross-sectional involved a group 45 cases control individuals. In both groups pathology report was done, for binary classification low- high-grade epithelial dysplasia employed. Serum 25(OH)D3 levels, data on status, age, gender, comorbidities, clinical pathological characteristics were collected groups. lower in median 19.1 ng/ml, while had 24.8 ng/ml. When subdividing each habit, case 19.4 ng/ml (IQR: 15.7-21.5 ng/ml), non-smoking 18.8 13.6-29.2 21.8 17.5-27.3 25.4 20.4-32.9 ng/ml) (p<0.05). comparing statistically significant differences found versus histopathological diagnosis showed no shows that OL compared those OL, which more evident group. Patients previously observed have hypovitaminosis D, assessing habits. finding suggests possible role deficiency development could be marked smokers. opens possibility future research as chemopreventive agent transformation evaluate relationship D.

Metabolic syndrome, primarily driven by high-fat/high-sugar (HF/HS) diets, is closely linked to insulin resistance and renal injury, leading serious complications such as type 2 diabetes mellitus diabetic nephropathy. This study explored the combined effects of Vitamin D (VD) dapagliflozin (Dap) on metabolic in an HF/HS diet-induced rat model syndrome. The combination therapy significantly improved sensitivity, reduced fasting blood glucose levels, alleviated injury markers urea nitrogen creatinine. It also attenuated inflammation, lipid accumulation, endoplasmic reticulum stress tissues, evidenced levels inflammatory cytokines key (GRP78 CHOP). Importantly, highlights novel synergistic potential VD Dap addressing these through complementary mechanisms. These findings suggest that this offers promising clinical for managing syndrome its progression severe complications.
